Jezzman Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Unreal.... the doors are open at Cirkus Anfield Tom Hicks exclusive: We lined up Jurgen KlinsmannJan 14 2008 by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo TOM Hicks and George Gillett held a secret meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann to line him up as the next manager of Liverpool FC. Hicks today insisted the talks would not have resulted in the immediate dismissal of Rafael Benitez and that Klinsmann was only ” an insurance policy.” He told the ECHO: “We attempted to negotiate an option, as an insurance policy, to have him become manager if Rafa left for Real Madrid or other clubs that were rumoured in the UK press. “Or in case our communication spiralled out of control for some reason.” The ECHO can also reveal: Had Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League the club’s owners would have tried to replace Benitez. A deal was almost agreed for Dubai International Capital to buy a minority share in the club in the autumn, only for talks to collapse over the valuation of the club. Hicks is hopeful for a financial restructure and that plans for the new stadium will be released by the end of this week. honourablegeorge Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I don;'t think it's too early to start signing a petition to ge tthese jokers out of the club.
CarraLegend Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I don;'t think it's too early to start signing a petition to ge tthese jokers out of the club. That wont do anything though, neither will a protest, infact they'd probably just sit in America laughing at us. The only way to hurt them is in their pockets but we have to many supporters for that to happen unfortunately.
Jezzman Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 I can't remember ever feeling this way about my club and the owners etc.... I'm simply in shock...
fellafeen Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Moores and Parry have to carry some of the blame for selling out to these a**holes
Romario Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Moores and Parry have to carry some of the blame for selling out to these a**holesCome on most people here were happy with them when they arrived after finding out about DIC's seven year plan. In fact I think most of us felt we had dodged a bullet. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. P.S. I can't believe he's come out and said that though.

I think 100,000 supporters signign up a petition wanting them out would ake them take notice. It would certainyl hit the papers. And encourage other buyers.

Ethan Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Send me the link to the petition - I'm ready to sign and get a message to these two losers
Guest Disintegration Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Come on most people here were happy with them when they arrived after finding out about DIC's seven year plan. In fact I think most of us felt we had dodged a bullet. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. P.S. I can't believe he's come out and said that though. Come off it. Were we privvy to one to one talks and every little bullet point of their plan? No. Parry wanted to save his own job and Moores, well, Moores is clueless.
berdoing Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 So, essentially the newspapers were right all along... Who'd have thunk it?
melia Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Unbelievable. I've erred on the side of seeing how things pan out, but this pushes me over the edge. This is not the way to run a football club, it's time for them to go.
fellafeen Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Come off it. Were we privvy to one to one talks and every little bullet point of their plan? No. Parry wanted to save his own job and Moores, well, Moores is clueless. Exactly, we were only privy to certain info. Regardless of DIC's 7 year plan, no matter who bought the club was doing it for one reason and one reason only, to make a return. At least DIC seemed to have the neccessary capital to realise that return as opposed to these two bluffers.
Guest Si Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Full run down on offal now................... Tom Hicks today admitted the club's owners held a meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann over the possibility of becoming the next manager of Liverpool - but that Rafa Benitez can now count on the full backing of both chairmen.Hicks and George Gillett sounded out the German about taking over in the Anfield hot-seat if Rafael Benitez left the club. "In November, when it appeared we were in danger of not advancing in the Champions League, weren't playing well in our Premier League matches, and Rafa and we were having communication issues over the January transfer window, George and I met with Jurgen Klinsmann to learn as much as we could about English and European football. "He is a very impressive man. We attempted to negotiate an option, as an insurance policy, to have him become our manager in the event Rafa decided to leave our club for Real Madrid or other clubs that were rumoured in the UK press, or in case our communication spiralled out of control for some reason. "After George and I had our long and productive meeting with Rafa following the Man United match, we put all of our issues behind us and received Rafa's commitment that he wanted to stay with Liverpool. "We never reached agreement on an option with Jurgen, and we are both pleased for him that he has a great opportunity to return to Germany and coach a great club team. "Rafa has both of our support, and our communication has greatly improved. "Foster, Rick Parry and Rafa now have regular meetings at Melwood on Monday mornings. "The two families always try to have a telephonic meeting on Monday afternoons, so we all are on the same page. We all want to win more games."
Romario Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) Come off it. Were we privvy to one to one talks and every little bullet point of their plan? No. Parry wanted to save his own job and Moores, well, Moores is clueless. No but perhaps their plans changed. They started off saying all the right things did they not? Most people felt that although it's a bitter pill to swallow we needed to be sold to move forward. It wasn't ideal but people were being pragmatic. They made all the right noises and people started to get more upbeat. It's easy to slag Moores off all the time but I'm sure he's equally surpried. He can do no right at all it seems. What these two have said they'll do and what they've actually done are worlds apart. On paper they looked a good bet but there you have it. It was always going to be a gamble but you'd like to think that they were good on their word. Unfortunatly that's proven not to be the case. Edited January 14, 2008 by Romario
RafaShanks Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Feck me. Just when you think things can't get any worse. Why the feck does that c**t Hicks always have to mouth off in the feckin press? What feckin benefit does it do to anyone revealing this? I don't think I can take more of this b******s!!! I honestly despair.
The_Adder Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 f***ing shocking. This is fast becoming a nightmare beyond a nightmare. Our great club is officially now a laughing stock thanks to one American idiot. I really hope the extra money Moores and the rest if the shareholders received from the sale is aiding their conscience. JOKE.
Tyler Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 based on the above they have backed rafa papers spinning things and not printing all the quotes - non shocka meeting klinnsmann may have been ill advised but maybe things were at a point where rafa was almost certain to go
Guest Si Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Why the hell reveal this though? Now? They want him out.
smithdown Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 This is fast becoming a nightmare beyond a nightmare. Our great club is officially now a laughing stock thanks to one American idiot. Is it f*ck.
Noel Street Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 i don' want to start looking like i support the americans, but the gist of this was following rafas 'coaching' press conference. They were surprised that rafa reacted in that way and thought that he may have resigned before they sacked him, hence the reason to approach klinsmann as an insurance policy.Theres been so much dirty washing bubbling up over that last few weeks or months that its clear that its all been hung out to dry. klinsmann wasn't approached today or last week it was after rafa criticised the owners in that press conference. maybe this is water under the bridge?
Romario Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Why the hell reveal this though? Now? They want him out.So they get their story out in the open regardless of it being ill advised at least their are no secrets? Nothing for the press to dig up? They also backed the manager in that article which is what people have been screaming for for ages. If you read they full article it's actually positive.

Well that's certainly a different spin than the headlines on the Echo site. I'll go back to keeping my gob shut for a while.
Will Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I really hope the extra money Moores and the rest if the shareholders received from the sale is aiding their conscience.Extra money? Shareholders didn't get offered anything much beyond what the shares would have been worth - and shareholders were never offered another option in any case
