How much more can you take ?

How much more of playing a striker on the wing and a winger upfront ?

How much more of waiting until it's to late in the game before we attack ?

How much more of playing second rate players like Voronin ?

Hicks and Gillet will not sack Rafa, he's doing a fine job all by himself with the s*** he keeps on putting out each game.

Listened to City and even Aldo is questioning Rafa now.

Some people fail to understand it's a two part process. You sack the manager and find a replacement. Sack Rafa and where is your replacement? Who would come in? Would they want to bring in their own players? Would some of our star players want to leave? Would the new manager put forward a new 5 year plan? Where is all this money going to come from?

Stick with Rafa and he may just get it right. Sack him now and it would be madness. Only 6 months ago he got us to a Champions League final. Something has gone wrong, he needs to fix it. Not a single manager hasn't been through a bad patch. This is Rafa's. Lets support him.

The non-footballing reasons Rafa might be unjustifiably sacked are beginning to give way to the footballing reasons that he might be justifiably have his job on the line.

Its a catch 22 at the moment i don't think all this stuff from G+H is helping but the worse it gets on the pitch the more likely it is he'll get the sack.

I do think we're too cautious in some of these games, this isnt La Liga where even league game are tactical battles, it is pretty frustrating when time after time we see the team play some great attacking football when we're behind or for the last 15 min, we know Rafa is a cautious coach but surely by now he understands how the PL works most weeks.

That said i do think you can win the league playing cautiously as Chelsea proved but for that to happen you need your 3 or 4 attacking players to be top class and at the moment we have 2 and thats it.

Changed your mind again Kev?

Nope, I've not changed my mind about Rafa. It's just that the future under Gillet, Hicks & Parry looks a hell of a lot bleaker than under Rafa. Hobson's choice at the moment.

I still say see where we are after next season although I really think the owners need to come out and back Rafa unconditionally. (I lost patience with GH after 2 seasons)

can you please move my carragher topic to here now from gen footie.. as for Rafa he is not the reason we are f***ing up.. its the ******* in the US who have caused this

We've actually gone backwards under Rafa.

We may have better players, but we currently as bad as his first season under him when we finished 5th.

It's gonna be tough to get 4th this season.

Ofcourse it's their fault in the states. They fax the team to Rafa, they fax the tactics to Rafa, they watch the game on the internet and fax the substitutions to him as well.

He's won us the European Cup, come within 90 minutes of making it 2 in 3 years, won the FA Cup, taken us to the final of the Carling Cup with a weakened side and given us our best ever Premiership points total. This all after winning the UEFA Cup and 2 La Liga titles in 3 seasons. He deserves proper backing till the end of 08/09.

To sign a player of his ilk to play between the lines and out wide after it's been clear these are positions in which we've been in desperate need of creativity was simply a bad, bad decision, even considering the minimal financial outlay.

I'm not saying I want Rafa fired but look at Chelsea. They fired Mourinho and hired Grant who was a no-name coach. He has solidified their position and made them even harder to beat, despite losing their 3 best players.

We are as close to winning the league under Rafa as I am to becoming fluent in Chinese by the end of the month.

He is right though, we are 4th with a game in hand.

What use is a game in hand that we cannot get points from? Boro had a kid who has never played before on the pitch today !!!!! And i mean, kid.

Amen.

And this bad patch co-incides with a lot of s*** in the press about a lack of support, and broken promises about investing in the team.

If we sack him, we won't qualify for the CL.

That would mean there'd be no money to service the loans. No money for transfers. We'd be f***ed.

Saw the team and the first thing that came to mind was that there were no goals in that team. That was a team (yet again) set up to counter the threat from the other team. FFS!!! That was Middlesbrough! We shouldn't spend one second thinking about what problems they can cause us. We should set out with a team that will scare the shıt out of them!

Riise at left midfield? How many more times does he need to shoot from the middle of the field when we are in a good position before he gets sold? How many more times to we need to see him fail delivering the most simple of crosses?

Gerrard doesn't seem to be able to play in a 4-4-2 if he's playing in the centre. He plays too deep that way and needs to be too "controlled". He needs to be told to just go out there and do whatever he wants. I'm tired of only seeing the "old" Gerrard when we are chasing the game and there's 10 min left of the game.

Voronin, Crouch and Kuyt.... nothing to be said. Not of the required standard. Decent backup but nothing more.

Finnan... wtf is happening to him?

Babel only being a sub... fücking tired of that. Play him from the start. The lad got obvious talent and needs games.

The back 4 and their hoofs have to stop.

Why do we only start playing sort of good football when we go a goal down or are trying to win the game in the last 5 after yet another miserable display?

I could go on and on but with every point made I realise more and more that most of these things depend on the decisions of Rafa. I've been one of his biggest supporters but there's not much more of this I can take.

i'm not a rafa supporter. i'm a liverpool supporter. we're not playing very well, and the manager's made mistakes...

but i don't blithely assume things would be any better with a.n.other manager in place. it's going to take time or money, or both whoever's in charge.

without absolute megabucks, the winning clubs all have stability of management, and leadership from the board in common.

We have enough decent players to be at least top 3/4 and maybe with luck a bit higher. But playing the formations we have been doing is not helping. We need to play a more attacking formation and with pace.

Rafe needs to stay and get it right. No point in changing manager at this point. After all who would we replace him with. GH and Rafa both conservative managers. Maybe bring Uncle Roy back!

We want the league. He's about as close to understanding this as Inspector Clouseau is to catching the Pink Panther.
