suzyv Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 ANy one else ashamed that we refused to offer Luton our part of the gate receipt. I wonder if this is down to the Yanks because I fell we would have done this under Moores.
sutty Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 No. If they hadn't asked for it, it would have been a nice gesture, but we aren't Barnardos
madaboutlfc Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 no as we are in effect under more debt..to reach a situation like lutons is due to mismanagement so not at all
Rich Gobey Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 (edited) Luton raised it to fire their players up even more I reckon, knowing we'd almost certainly say no. Edited January 7, 2008 by Gobez
Guest Cardie Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 f*** 'em, with any luck in 2 minutes they'll be locking the gates and selling the stadium for scrap wood.
Guest dKing Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Nope. As far as I understand it was down to bad managment. Cheeky Monkeys asking us for it in public . But if where gonna act like Bob Gelgof, Lets go save Kenya United FC while were at it .
Raj Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Ashamed is a strong word to use. I think it would have been a nice gesture for us to do it. Its slightly disappointing but I didnt see the FA offer to part with their 10% of the takings either.
trowie Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 My mates a Mansfield supporter and their club could easily go into liwuidation due to the thieving antics of the Chairman. If we were playing them under such situations my mate would be up in arms if we let Mansfield have the gate money.I'm sure there's no correlation between both owners except that the situation is probably brought about by bad management(boardroom level)So no. we are a business that has to protect our own income or before long we will be in the same position.
L19red Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 not even a little bit. Its karma for the contemptuous manner they treated away fans when thatchers lapdog was in charge. f*** them, I hope we make them wait until they've been forced to sell all their decent players before we hand over one penny of the gate receipts from the home game as well. Better still give huge pay rises for one game to the stewards/catering staff/st johns etc so all the money goes in expenses and we dont make any profit from the game.
Kahnee Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 We've given the f*****s a replay, what more do they want? He's all heart that Riise
John am Rhein Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 ANy one else ashamed that we refused to offer Luton our part of the gate receipt. I wonder if this is down to the Yanks because I fell we would have done this under Moores. No. I detest Luton and hope they go out of business.
Gunga Din Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 remember when they refused to field a team in the FA Cup against us in the 80's when they said they were snowed in, when in reality they had a shed load of injuries. remember they banned away fans. remember their plastic f***ing pitch. f*** off Luton.
Case Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Don't we do plenty for clubs such as Wrexham in pre-season? Hell - lets allow all away teams to keep all gate receipts. Then try to re-sign Torben Piechnik. On-loan, natch.
smithdown Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Luton Town FC didn't reimburse me when they failed to turn up to Anfield for that Cup game 20 years ago so hard lines.
JRC Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Especially when hundreds of their fans did make it up from Luton by their own steam. Still can't believe they weren't made to forfeit that match. Not that I'm bitter. B*stards.
John am Rhein Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 remember when they refused to field a team in the FA Cup against us in the 80's when they said they were snowed in, when in reality they had a shed load of injuries. remember they banned away fans. remember their plastic f***ing pitch. f*** off Luton. Unforgiven W*nkstain of a club
matty Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 There are far more deserving causes in the world. Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, the Paedophile Information Exchange, the Pete Doherty Is Innocent fund, and Amy Wineshop's tab at Mahiki, to name but four.
Guest Bear Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Weren't they the club that got caught bunging agents and God knows who else? And they want Liverpool to help bail them out? Then when we don't they go public? Pretty sure I know who should feel ashamed.
Flasher Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Weren't they the club that got caught bunging agents and God knows who else? And they want Liverpool to help bail them out? Then when we don't they go public? Pretty sure I know who should feel ashamed. Spot on. Let's find out where their £14m (ish) in transfer receipts over the last 2/3 years has gone first. I don't want any club to dissappear. Luton, as much as any other, is a significant club in the English Football League. However, it's not up to Premiership clubs to bail out crooks.
MFletcher Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 They put themselves into the situation they're in through bad management. It would have set a precedent anyway, so we had to say no.
Billy Dane Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Money's been a bit tight for me this year. I'm embarrassed Liverpool haven't given me my season ticket for free. Miserable bastids
Rimbeux Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Not at all. Why should we give them our money which we desperately need also to help solve their own mess. And there was that scam 20 years ago. Horrible fans also
