5Live this morning - Parry off to speak with the Yanks

probably the normal media half story, however I do hope rafa is on the agenda.

These guys need either to back him or sack him (and I hope they back him). All this ****ing around is just adding to the media speculation and *** that is flying around. As has already been posted on here all this **** must be getting to the players (and probably Rafa as well) by now.

I know, I know, 3 hundred million threads I could have added this to

I want them to back him. I genuinely like rafa, want to see him do well and don'y know who's better out there that we could get

what we really need is a vote of confidence from the board

It really will make all the difference. ;)

(which is why, as far as I am concerned, they need to shut up and stay shut-up)

it's a structured campaign now this.

i believe it is too, i'm with you on that..

if Gillett & Hicks want to keep him, as Hicks stated in that interview only last week, then they need to put this to bed and that's very simple to do: we believe in the manager, we believe with the plans he's putting into place and here's a new 5 year contract to show that as well as 'war chest' of 50m..

if they don't get soft-s**** to do that as soon as he gets back then i fear the worst (this is assuming that soft-s**** Parry has indeed flew out to see them)..

the only way to put this to bed it to give Rafa a new contract. but that simply isnt going to happen, is it? its very uncertain times, but weirdly for me, the more we are struggling, the more i am finding myself backing Rafa. i really really want him to succeed, to win the league and tell all the c**** at sky and the London press to f*** off.

Rafa looked knackered speaking after the game yesterday, bags under his eyes, he looked like he hasnt slept in weeks

I have no doubt it's affecting him. I think he genuinely loves the club and the way the supporters treat him with such respect. You wouldn't have heard anything like the Porto night in Valencia.

And he knows that if he goes, it will be for non-footballing reasons. And the project he has invested three and a half years of his life in will be down the toilet because he dared to highlight the incompetence of the owners' who know nothing about 'soccer' and were holding the club back with their quite ridiculous decision to hold off transfer discussions until the middle of December.

And aren't willing to support him with a decent amount of money :applause:

possibly, but i'm not a subscrible to the infallible Rafa that some people are. he has made some major mistakes in team selections and tactics recently, and he frustrates the life out of me with over rotation, but the fact is i dont know if there is a better option out there.

If they sack him I think we're royally f***ed.

Does anyone really want another five year plan? I doubt the players will and I can't see Gerrard hanging around if there's another change of manager and he probably wouldn't be the only one.

I see what you'e saying, but I don't have a problem with his tactics, more his team selection at times

In relation to the rotation, I would like to see us trim the 1st team squad down, as there are too many players who are playing 1 in 6 games to justify their place in the squad, eg. Voronin, Sissoko, Crouch

I still have faith in Rafa and hope that he has the financial backing to finish what he has started.

I am with you. He could have put up and shut-up. Kept it all in house as it were but, more importantly as far as we are all concerned, letting Pako go was a huge mistake, IMO

I think even those that are backing him wouldn't say he hasn't made mistakes, both in the transfer market and with team selection. He is hardly infallible, but he is the best man for the job in my humble, and there is no-one out there who I think is better qualified and available to manage the club....

Not sure if this is true, but he definitely needs a good assistant to work with him.

Noone really knows what happened with Pako (unless i am mistaken) so its difficult to say whether it could have been avoided or not. Its my hunch that we have missed him however. And i wish we had replaced him with someone Rafa was comfortable with

thats nail on the head for me. i mentioned earlier in the season, possibly before the season started, that i felt our squad was too big.

for me, Sissoko, Carson, Riise, Kuyt, Voronin and Pennant could all be sold i might even stick Alonso in with that, but i'll leave him aside for now. we should raise maybe £30 - 35mil from that, and if we put that together with another £15mil, and bought another top striker, and a left winger, as well as Mascherano and cover for centre half, we would be in much better shape. and rather than spending 3 or 4 mil on squad players, make better use of the fringe players in the ressies, and go after proven quality rather than potential, we would be much better off. United do this really well, they dont buy 2 or 3 £ mil players, tehy buy one £20 mil player, and dont hesitate in throwing the likes of Pique and Evans and O'shae and Fletcher in, whenever the squad gets depleated with injuries or suspensions
