All things considered

But it was the tactics that where once again at fault, we had a side that are capable on their best day to beat teams like Luton, as I mentioned the tactics are just shambolic.

You look at Kuyt granted he has been s***, but I am really starting to feel sorry for him because he reminds me so much of Houllier with Heskey, Kuyt isn't even being played upfront and he needs to get his confidence back because it is shattered, you look at his positional play for a sriker, he was at times playing Right Back, I've heard of playing deep but that took the piss, now you wonder is he just doing that? Or is Benitez telling him to do that because Benitez didn't show any signs of displeasure in his positional play in this game and many others.

There is absolutely no consistancy in how we play, the only thing that is consistant in how we play is the non-consistancy of the whole thing, look at Arsenal and the Mancs when someone is injured they have someone to replace them, they know where to play and how to play to fit into the teams style of play hence the fact they have not missed Henry or Viera.

As for ourselves, we switch sides far too often, our players sit way too deep and no one has a clue where they are playing anymore people are being caught out, players are expecting other players to be in the positions they are running to and they are just being caught out with no other options other than to pass it back and hoof the ball up. Look at Arsenal, they KNOW where there players are, there is no confusion it isn't about formations or team selections it's just the simplicity of there play and it's beautiful to watch and it comes with it's rewards.

Finnan was shambolic and thats the first time I've ever called him that since Houllier's reign. Our knight in shining armour Alonso has been piss poor since he came back, our passing hasn't been better and our play has been even worse in my opinion.

The players confidence overall is shattered and they just look like rabbits caught in the headlights both confused and all having a lack of self confidence and motivation.

I am totally utterly convinced that what I have seen over the past few years with our players that they are world class and can win this league, it is Benitez that is the problem and this is just another game that is strengthening this opinion.

...do you honestly think voronin, riise, kuyt, benayoun are world class. i don't think so. our players aren't good enough. Rafa believes they are. he needs his head examined

Yeah, sure. Our whole squad is incredible in all departments but it's evil Rafa Benitez that is stopping them playing well

Maybe the players have lost their confidence in Rafa!

It certainly seems to me that they are not willing to give everything they've got for their manager.

I'm not slating Rafa now, but it is starting to get very worrying.

Even if the tactics were wrong, the players who played today, should be able to play them off the park.

Thats not my point and you know it.

Yeh its all Rafas fault.

Despite Riise putting the ball in his own net with his f***ing arm its all Rafas fault.

Despite Alonso forgetting how to f***ing pass its all Rafas fault.

Rafa has to answer questions but the players need to have a word as well. Some of them are a disgrace.

I know the problems been there most of the season but if you look at other PL sides this weekend, even ones like Everton and Blackburn that are known for their fighting spirit most of the PL sides that have played teams in the lower leagues have struggled.

I just think these players are on big money and its probably just another game for them, for the teams we play its the biggest game of their lives and they play like it. Of course you'd like to think playing for Liverpool FC would be enough motivation for anybody but if you look at the results in the cup this weekend its not just us that have struggled and a lot of PL teams struggled at home.

Once again it showed that we dont have enough players that are good enough but we knew that anyway.

Jesus, any opportunity you get you come on here and start putting the boot in!

Do everyone a favour, go off back to your Football Manager game and grow up, then come back and discuss.

What a load of f***ing b******s.

What was wrong was the players attitudes. They went on the pitch thinking they only had to turn up to win. Forgetting this was Lutons biggest game of the season.

Going in for every ball like they couldn't care, passing the ball to the wrong player, not moving into space.

Im sure Rafa said in his team talk that was what he wanted to see

There's nothing wrong with the team selection but Rafa is to blame - excellent post :hmm:

I made the comparison between Kuyt and Heskey donkeys ago ( pun intended )

That side was alright - the major problem is that it was different from previous selections and it will be different from the next. Some players aren't given a chance, others are given too long.

Playing Benayoun behind a main striker works but you need someone more suited to playing right than Kuyt is and you need central midfielder making forward runs - i think Lucas made one or two all game.

Alonso, like before, has been rushed back too soon.

You just said our players are world class and "it is Benitez that is the problem".

Rafa has his fair share of mistakes to his name. But to blindly say the players are great and the manager is s***, well, sorry, imnorhavvinthat

The opposition deserve the credit today. We were s*** but you get those games.

aye, but we seem to get those sort of games every other week, and its not coincidence.

I'm not at all questioning that they where poor but it's not as if Benitez was activly trying to change the source of the reasons for our play breaking down, Ala Kuyt, you could easily say he was pleased with what he did.

Yawn.

Wouldn't know a tactic if a box of them was rammed up your a***.

2 european cup finals in 3 years was a fluke obviously.

Is Benitez still living off that>

Don't give me that Spike, we may have been s*** and yes you do have those games but 'those games' are happening far too much for it not to be one of 'those games'

I'm not sure what Rafa said in his team talk, either way what ever he did didn't f***ing work.

I did not state Rafa was s***, I just simply declared that he is becoming the problem when you consider what he actually does in terms of systems and formations.

How many CLs have you won?

never mind that how many people have you ever managed.. People seem to think Benitez is at fault for the ills without looking at the bigger picture.. Anyone even mentioning any kind of similarity with Houllier is a bufoon as there is none.. there were no owners impinging on the mangers plan..

Ungrateful pricks like you do not deserve any success.. its my misfortune people like you exist and support the same team I do

It's an internet forum, how can you even come to that presumption?

I love the way you claim Rafa is "living off the European Cup finals".

Because the European Cup is a mickey-mouse competition isn't it?

Considering we won it 2005 and it's now 2008.

tactics? specifically what was wrong with his tactics today?
