Lets be honest , despite all his work rate(in previous games) , he is NOT good enough to be a RED , IMHO.

 

His first touch is terrible to say the least. Id say we;d be lucky now to offload him for a decent price(dutch clubs aint gona have that much money).Basically at the moment we are carrying him.

 

 

Apart from that , you stop SG (or he has a quiet game) and your 75% of the way to stopping us win a game .

We are carrying all our strikers bar Torres. The rest of the team is very strong and very competent in their roles. The strikers are letting us down. The only reason we are closer to the leaders this season is because of Torres's goals.

 

We need to beef up the quality of our strikeforce because its not good enough and the amount of 0-0 prove that - Birmingham, Pompey, Blackburn and City considering that we dominated 3 of those games and had enough chances vs Pompey

No the lack of "anything" from our midfield.....

Sh was quiet , Mach did what he does best , but Yossi and Harry where at nothing IMO and again I come back to my earlier opinion of stopping SG or him not having a god day and you have a good chance of 3points.

 

Harry has a good 1st touch and quality of pass but no pace any more and I think is no where near the HK we gort off Leeds and Yossi is like a lot of average wide men[not wingers] (and probably the reason they end up not in the centre of midmield from therer early daysplaying ball ) Hot and Cold ..........

 

put it all together with DK waiting on a bus or summit and we aint gonna win these games that are there to be won.....

City played so deep from the 1st min , if we have the quality we think we have we should have created more than we did and hopefully won it !!!

I almost felt like we'd have a better chance playing with 10 men - there were two players behind him that would have buried that chance in the last minute. He's so slow too, there were a couple of good balls played through to him, but because of his lack of pace the defenders cleared what should have been an opportunity. It's coming to something when you cast envious glances towards Blackburn's strikefore nevermind Man U's.

When Torres is off the boil, it would make a massive difference to our side if his partner was even half a threat to the opposition. 10M should get more than a whimper in front of goal.

He is an honest player and it's disappointing he has been found out in the Premier League. We paid far too much for him and will probably lose on him, still, I agree, he should be moved on. When he plays, 4-4-2 becomes 4-5-1.

He tries to do too much. Which puts pressure on him when he eventually does get chances. It's this that's eaten away at his confidence, so much now that his touch and control are suffering. He's also lost for the most part the extra half yard he had from his good movement, which is also on the wane.

I have to agree. His lack of pace in all situations not just goalscoring is his biggest limitation and he has many. He get dispossessed so often due to lack of sharpness.

A combined 35m for Torres, Kuyt, Crouch and Voronin. To me that's excellent business and probably one of the best strike-forces in Europe.

absolutely untrue today (except for the pace thing) he showed some really good touches and awareness and his first touch was spot on 90% of the time. You sir are biased and cannot have an objective view.

From what I have seen of Kuyt over the past year he is clearly not good enough. I know he has had some bad news in that period but I haven't seen anything that makes me think he is going to turn into a top striker

He often plays reasonably well in contributing to our build up play but his contributions go unnoticed because of his poor goal return. Having said that though, he is not a typical link striker so you end up thinking if he's not an out and our goalscorer and he isn't a link player then what is his role?

 

I had high hopes for him when he signed and was impressed straight away with his work rate but I think he is not best suited to the way we are playing. If he was left to hang about near the opposition goal and had pacy wingers getting to the by-line and pulling back balls for him to tuck away we might see a half decent return from him in terms of goals.

agree with jfogarty based over a year or so not on todays or the last few weeks games.

 

Set your standards high or else we will never win it.

 

He's a squad player but we already have enough of them IMO.

 

But again have to say that if a team can stop SG there gonna get some joy out of us and for a team wanting to win the title thats Not good news .Not only could we do with another world class front man but REAL quality in the width(doesnt have to be wingers) so we dont depend on the skipper to win every game for us .
