Guest RedIsMyColour Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I hope he retires tonight out of shame. He is one of the worst players ever to play for Liverpool FC.
techmob Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 he isn't good enough,even as a squad player
Cheesecake Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 We only have one striker of any worth. The rest are of a standard more suitable to a team like Middlesboro or Leicester City.
Steven Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Diabolical today. Cant sum up how awful he was today.
Guest RedLegend Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Yep. Not good enough. Not even close.
Magic8Ball Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 we really need to upgrade our entire attack (minus Torres) - we need to be looking at replacing Voronin and Crouch for starters - In the summer I wanted Torres and Tevez as I thought they would be way more effective together than any combination we had at that time. we really need to trade on of the "excess" strikers for Anelka - then in summer look at getting a decent upgrade
floyd Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 He is one of the worst players ever to play for Liverpool FC.Last striker to come from the Bundesliga and play for us, Sean Dundee. Coincidence

alias75 Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I sometimes think Benitez does these Bosmans simply as a money making exercise, we get n international for free that can be 4th choice striker sign him on a 3 year contract then sell him for a few million the year after. Clearly not good enough for us, but he is an international and im sure there'll be takers if/when we sell.
Clay Davis Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 we need to be looking at replacing Voronin and Crouch for starterswhy on earth would we get rid of Crouch before Kuyt.Kuyt isn't a footballer.
Guz Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 After the first 30 mins or so we were all complete s****. Not one player came out of that with any crdit until the last few mins
abuusayd Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Did Hleb show the same form when he joined Arsenal in his first season and they paid 7-9 Million for him?

Guest RedIsMyColour Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Who exactly has Benitez done that with? Kromkamp to some extent.
MFletcher Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I've always believed that Voronin was a "concession signing". We could have signed two Kuyt-level players, but Rafa decided to buy one world class player and needed a cheap alternative to replace Robbie. He's a starter for the Ukraine, so he's not as useless as he's looked in recent games. People have complained that Rafa has bought crap, but this is the sort of player you have to sign if you want world class players in other areas of the field. He was shocking today, and has been very poor in past few games, but he was a free signing and we got Torres with the money we saved.
Guest Snorky Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Voronin played poorly today, but he was not alone. He is not the worst player ever to wear our shirt, ever saw Jimmy Tarbuck in a testimonial game
Jim D Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Was carried today by our better players, after a promising start he starting to look what his transfer fee suggested, average.
alias75 Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Who exactly has Benitez done that with? well he wasnt a Bosman but Bellamy is one that springs to mind, he knew he could get him on the cheap, and he'd be a good stop gap solution if he didnt work out he knew he could sell him for a profit. Others like Krongkamp you always felt were brought in as very short term solutions.
Guest RedLegend Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Did Hleb show the same form when he joined Arsenal in his first season and they paid 7-9 Million for him? No but Hleb was always considered a very talented player who just wasn't performing last season at Arsenal. Voronin was always considered an average player even in the Bundesliga.
floyd Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 erik meijer.ahh Mad Erik, how could I forget.

Others like Krongkamp you always felt were brought in as very short term solutions. Hardly done for financial gain though is it? I agree Bellamy was a stop gap before we spent big the following summer on Torres but how you can deduce we signed him so we could make a few million later is beyond me. Kromkamp we didnt lose or make any money on did we? You have to go for short term options when you're building a squad, it's inevitible.
Bo Benn Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 On the top of my head I think I can come up with at least 20, probably 30 ex liverpool players worse than Voronin. And I can only remember players from the early 90'ies and onwards. Not good today neither was Riise for instance. Babel was off, though I think he should have started alongside Fernando. Aurelio was so and so. Finnan rather poor for once. "one of the worst players ever to play for Liverpool" is a f***ing disgraceful and ignorant comment.
Swipe Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Can barely describe how poor he was today. He's utterly useless. Hope him and Kuyt joing Crouch out the door ASAP. Really poor performance today, against a pub team. Slow and sluggish with little quality on show. Got out of jail on this one
