richwilks Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I've heard a couple of different sources over the past 2 weeks mentioning that Rafa is persuing David Villa and is willing to offer upto 25m in the January transfer window. Rafa sees Villa as the perfect partner for Torres and believes it'll form an unstoppable strikeforce. Valencia are in need of some money and Rafa is hoping to raise the cash through the sales of Carson, Crouch and Sissoko and include John Arne Riise in the deal. Apparently Valencia are keen to recruit Mikel Arteta from Everton and need some money to push the deal through. Villa is keen on any deal and although Chelsea would enter the bidding Villa would prefer to link up with Torres and Benitez. Chelsea will then persue a deal for Anelka. All sounds highly unlikely to me but thought I'd pass it on, £25 million in the January transfer window seems unlikely especially given the rumours of our lack of cash. Would also mean us needing to invest in a new left back.
fyds Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Lovely idea - though 'highly unlikely' seems like a massive understatement!
richwilks Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 I didn't know how to go further than "highly unlikely" without swearing.
McBain Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 From feck off with your Bosmans to Villa for s***loads is quite a leap
fyds Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Maybe someone overheard that we were trying to get £25m out of Villa for Crouch, Riise and Carson?
Hassony Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Lovely idea - though 'highly unlikely' seems like a massive understatement! TBH thats what most of us thought about torres TBH
fyds Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 TBH thats what most of us thought about torres TBHNot me - I thought that was a goer...one credit crunch later though,....
richwilks Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 I've just seen this reported on a site called Sportingo now as well. Now for those of you not aware of Sportingo basically that means it won't happen!!! Don't think they have ever got anything write and spout the biggest load of crap of any website.
McBain Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Or G and H are both buying a Villa with the £50m they saved on the stadium Those selfish b******s

richwilks Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 Out of interest what's the biggest amount spent on a player in the Jan transfer window? Ever been a biggy? Can't think of one.
_00_deathscar Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Out of interest what's the biggest amount spent on a player in the Jan transfer window? Ever been a biggy? Can't think of one. Milan bought Pato for a fair bit, but that wasn't a trade between two Europeans teams if that's what you meant.
L19red Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 10 million for ashley young from watford to villa. I can't remeber anything bigger than that.
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 My mates cousins dog has just confirmed this story. Tis true.
surf Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 From feck off with your Bosmans to Villa for s***loads is quite a leap Carson + Crouch + Sissoko + Riise = 25m Also pays for the wages
CaptainXabi Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Carson + Crouch + Sissoko + Riise = 25m Also pays for the wagesI should hope they add up to a lot more than 25 million. Should be 30-35 (10,10,7,5 or something like that).
McBain Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Carson + Crouch + Sissoko + Riise = 25m Also pays for the wages Perhaps but i dont see Rafa reducing his squad by 4 (3) in order to get one player
surf Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 (edited) Any transfer depening on three other transfers is obviously never going to happen, but i was just pointing out that the figures add up. Edited December 21, 2007 by surf
CaptainXabi Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Perhaps but i dont see Rafa reducing his squad by 4 (3) in order to get one playerI dunno, I think it works out. Carson was never here, Villa plays the same position as Crouch, apparently Insua's being prepared for the step up, and Lucas is already at least equal with Momo in the pecking order. Seems like it wouldn't be completely out of the question in terms of squad size.
lfc4eva99 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 say we recoup 35m for those 4, spend 25-27 on villa and the rest on garay...
sutty Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I like the story for 2 reasons 1 - we get Villa. 2 - Everton lose Arteta. Lovely.
Guest Prongsy Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 (edited) Whilst we are in dreamland... I would sooner have Silva from Valencia, to be honest. That would allow us to play a 4-5-1 (aka 4-3-3) in the same style that Rafa used so successfully at valencia. ---------Gerrard---Alonso---MascheranoBabel--------------------------------------Silva-------------------Torres Edited December 21, 2007 by Prongsy
