Guest sniffer Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Any of Liverpool's Bosman signings been rated a great success by anyone?
Rimbeux Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 (edited) aside from Sol Campbell, can you make a case for many of anyones? Isn't it the nature of the game that you usually get a player later on in their career who may or may not adapt and is unlikely to improve. Edited December 19, 2007 by Rimbeux

Rimbeux Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 mcmanaman did alright. True, he did tail off though after two years and never came back. I just dont think we've seen a climate that allowed many top players to take up the option. I think you'll save a few mil on a squad player here or there, or pick up a promising young player for compensation, but a huge player for you? Unlikely.
richwilks Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I think a lot depends on the attitude of the player you sign. Gary Mac and Babbel did well for us.
honourablegeorge Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Babbel, Gary Mac. Personally think Voronin's been excellent, considering he was free. Makes Kuyt's fee look somewhat mental.
RafaShanks Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Babbel was a monster during his first season when we won the treble. He could have been one of our greatest right backs ever if it wasn't for his disabilating illness. Gary Mac played his part in also landing us the treble and finishing fourth that season. Apart from those two I'm struggling. Zenden was pants. Voronin started ok, but he's lost his way big time.
Spiblish Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Babbel, Gary Mac, McManaman, Sol Campbell, Beckham !!!
Guz Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Has anyone seen Fairclough's Dream Team XI on LFC TV? He said he was tempted to stick Babbel in there ahead of Phil Neal at RB and probably would've done had Babbel been around for longer. Jari came on a free too.
IgPig Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 . Voronin started ok, but he's lost his way big time. He's been here 4 months.
Guest PaulMcC Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Babel and Gary Mac were brilliant. Voronin has done well.
millsee Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Ballack went to Chelse on a Bosman. Oh. A success. Sorry. As you were.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 did Meijer arrive on a free? I will never understand that one. He got rid of Riedle who could play a bit to replace him with eriK?
Extraordinary Swindle Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I will never understand that one. He got rid of Riedle who could play a bit to replace him with eriK?Won a free kick against Man Utd - Result 1-0. Paid for the transfer fee there and then.
Hassony Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Won a free kick against Man Utd - Result 1-0. Paid for the transfer fee there and then. we also won away at highbury with him!
Kahnee Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I will never understand that one. He got rid of Riedle who could play a bit to replace him with eriK? Riedle was a crap cook though
Hassony Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Riedle was a crap cook though he wouldn't know a Sami Hyypia Fish Dish if it slapped him in the face
Gilps Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Riedle was a top player and remains the best partner Owen has ever had in his career.
Kahnee Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Riedle was a top player and remains the best partner Owen has ever had in his career. I didn't even know they'd split up
Earl Hafler Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I think Babbel was one of our best ever signings . Gary Mac on a free was inspired.
