I'm in danger of sounding like a broken record but what the f*** is he supposed to be?

If he is the best man to play with Torres then that's a huge back handed insult to the other 2 as much as anything.

We'll be making a big loss on him shortly I think. Really disappointing player.

Seems to be running in treacle. I think Crouch is quicker than him.

dont think we'd make a loss on him there are plenty of teams that would like him, but i agree hes just a little short of the quality we need. Can't fault his effort and against most PL teams hes a good partner for Torres but he gets shown up in the big games because his touch isnt good enough.

Would have no problem keeping him as 3rd/4th choice striker because i think with his attitude he wouldnt complain and would always try hard when called upon but if we want to beat teams like Utd and Arsenal more often we need better quality attacking players than Kuyt.

With any luck his reputation will still be intact in Holland so it might not be too big a loss.

Mind you, Benitez has done him no favours whatsoever. He's meant to be a striker yet ends up playing in midfield every game.

I like Kuyt, and I still think he is the best partner for Torres that we have at the club. However, all three shouldn't be first choice for a club who is aiming to win the title, we need to sell one (maybe two) of them and replace them with someone from the same level as torres (Villa?, Eto?)

I hate to say it but I agree.

Faultless effort and running but terrible touch and decision making - I am afraid he does not look good enough despite his effort

I think it was Leo 8 who suggested at the start that he could be our next Kenny. I don't know what's happened to him but that's so far off the mark at the moment. I think he's a better player than he's currently showing but I just don't know if he's got what it takes .

He's got absolutly no pace at all (even over a couple of yards) and I'm not sure if he's clever enough to make that yard up in his head like someone like RVN who always seemed to be in the right bleeding place at the right time.

The thing is I really like him. He's a nice guy and has a great work etic but you need more than that. Perhaps when his head is clear and he's performing at 100% he'll cut it but at the moment he's struggling big time.

He's not good enough, that's for sure. Good to have in your squad perhaps. Imagine if Torres had someone in the Bergkamp mould to play off instead..

I honestly think that if Crouch isn't going to start, then Yossi or Kewell would both be better 2nd striker options.

Crouch is not good enough either.

Benayoun might be an option, play gerrard on the right and alonso/Masch in the middle

Its Morientes all over again.

Signed as the main goalscorer but as the goals haven't materialised Rafa has had to make the best of a bad situation and has converted him to a hard-working second striker - even though he doesn't have the requisite quality.

He'll go in the summer I reckon.

In the summer people were saying he'd push on this season and score more goals. He's gone backwards.

For what he offers to the team this season we'd be as good with some yard dog bruiser from the conference.

Rafa has been wrong not to play Crouch more often.

Kuyt's not a Number 10 (traditional Liverpool No.7), so the position he played yesterday wasn't working.

I'm afraid yesterday boiled down to not having true wide players getting to the goalline, so Kuyt went out right and he can't play at his best there.

He's good up front. I still believe in him.

I think he's fairly average. Half decent at most things, has a big heart and is very likeable but ultimately average.

I said he was s**** 12 months ago, and I stand by it. There's about 30 strikers in the premiership better than him, so what's he doing at a top four club who want to be a top 1 club...

I appreciate his hard work and selfless play, but, although he may be playing deeper than best suits his game, I'm not sure his poor contol, passing, etc, can be attributed to this fact or any resulting lack of confidence. As much as I like him (and realise his style of play can bring others into the game), Kuyt's done very little to justify his £10m price tag. And I'm not sure if I can ever see that changing, even if he were to play in a more advanced role (which, with Crouch and Torres for company, appears unlikely).

The last time I said that re Kuyt, there were people saying thats the way he used to play in Holland (tracking back etc;) and that he's never the kind who lingers round the box. That may be true, but the problem is he tries too hard to be involved in the build-up and he keeps choosing the wrong option. Maybe our style of play doesnt suit him, I dont know.

I still believe he's a good finisher, he just needs to stay in the box more. I will give him one more season after this one.

And RVN isnt slow. He looks deceptively slow, but he's actually pretty damn mobile.

He showed last season that he isn't good enough up front

he has scored 7 goals this season, more than crouch, voronin, Berbatov, Bent and Tevez

Yep. let Dirk and Torres play as real forwards together. When they do, it works.
