usualsuspect Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 (edited) Enjoyed yesterday but this is the big one. Always the epic. Dont expect anything less. I think we'll see the same line up with 2 changes 1) up front - Crouch for Kuyt and 2) Finnan for Riise with Aberloa going left back. Reina FinnanCarraHyypiaArbeloa BenayounMascheranoGerrardKewell CrouchTorres Depending on the score, bring Babel on 60-70 min. Can never underestimate the Mancs though - have too many potential matchwinners but I hope we go for it from the start. Edited December 12, 2007 by usualsuspect
CarraLegend Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Think he'll keep the same team unless Finnan is 100%
Hassony Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Think he'll keep the same team unless Finnan is 100% to replace Alvaro or JAR?
usualsuspect Posted December 12, 2007 Author Posted December 12, 2007 to replace Alvaro or JAR? I would suspect JAR although he had a decent game yesterday by his recent standards.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Does Alonso have a chance ? Can see Kuyt starting alongside Torres again.
usualsuspect Posted December 12, 2007 Author Posted December 12, 2007 Does Alonso have a chance ? Can see Kuyt starting alongside Torres again. I hope Alonso is not risked (assuming not ready). Also likely to be off the pace after the layoff. Am warming up to Masch and SG in the middle for this game.
Huyton_Red Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Mascerano is a doubt according to the echo he hobbled out of the staduim last night in some discomfort It will be a huge blow if Mascerano doesnt play, huge I think we will play the same team as last night if he is fit, if he is not fit we may play torres on his own with sissoko, lucas and gerrard in the middle. I think it is to big a game to have lucas holding behind gerrard in a midfield two to be honest
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 FFS, I always said we shouldnt have let Diao go
Stevie H Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 no need to play crouch, kuyt and torres looked great again last night.
CarraLegend Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 kuyt and torres looked great again last night. By far the best partnership so far
ManxRed Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 no need to play crouch, kuyt and torres looked great again last night. Uh-oh. Just wait til Kaizer sees this...
sutty Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 no need to play crouch, kuyt and torres looked great again last night. Kuyt took his goal really well. I really like him as an individual and hope he proves me wrong. FWIW I'd play the same team with Finnan in for Jonny Rockets. I wonder if he might do a Lucas in for Kuyt type thing though
sutty Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Uh-oh. Just wait til Kaizer sees this... It'll be a few days
usualsuspect Posted December 12, 2007 Author Posted December 12, 2007 By far the best partnership so far Probably true - just doesn't strike me a dangerous partnership. Hopefully the work rate makes up for lack of guile
CarraLegend Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Probably true - just doesn't strike me a dangerous partnership. Yeah, it was f***ing s*** last night.
muleskinner Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Mascerano is a doubt according to the echo he hobbled out of the staduim last night in some discomfort It will be a huge blow if Mascerano doesnt play, huge I think we will play the same team as last night if he is fit, if he is not fit we may play torres on his own with sissoko, lucas and gerrard in the middle. I think it is to big a game to have lucas holding behind gerrard in a midfield two to be honest I'd be more than happy with Lucas/Gerrard if Mascherano isn't fit. He was stretchered off under a blanket and I was fearing a break but he was haring down the right wing less than 2 minues later. Tough f***** so I won't be surprised if he lines up Sunday.
ManxRed Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 It'll be a few days Right! I'm off to start a 'Voronin is sh*te' thread!
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Does Alonso have a chance ? Dec 28th I thinkKuyt took his goal really well. I really like him as an individual and hope he proves me wrong. FWIW I'd play the same team with Finnan in for Jonny Rockets. I wonder if he might do a Lucas in for Kuyt type thing thoughOr Aurelio in at LB Kuyt & Voronin up front for me
fred milne Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Think he'll keep the same teamOn basis he described it as a near perfect performance, I suspect you're right and he'll keep the same side, just as he did after Besiktas. Personally, I'd like to see Alonso (or Lucas, if Alonso is still out injured) playing instead of Benayoun.
Dee Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 On basis he described it as a near perfect performance, I suspect you're right and he'll keep the same side, just as he did after Besiktas. Personally, I'd like to see Alonso (or Lucas, if Alonso is still out injured) playing instead of Benayoun. Benny wins us those freekicks in dangerous positions. I think we'll score from one against the mancs. I'd keep the same team with the same mentality - winning at all costs
fred milne Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 We were able to play on the counter last night because we scored so early. I'd be surprised if that happens against Utd so I think we'll need a playmaker in the middle. I also like the idea of Gerrard up against Evra.
Sion Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 We should go with the xmas spirit and play the xmas tree formation -------------Reina-----------Finnan Hyypia Carra Arbeloa-----Lucas SG Masch--------------Yossi--Kewell------------------Torres----------- Torres is the angel on top of our tree :forumisgayfortorres:
Molby Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Rafa may be thinking about how to deal with Ronaldo for this could be a bit scary if it's just left to Arveloa if Kewell is at left mid he may go for a 5 man midfield in order to have a spare man to sort this out and put Torres up on his own or we could go at them all guns blazing and play our own game the only idea I don't like is the compromise with Lucas in for Benayoun, unless it means Gerrard on the right, Lucas as playmaker and Masch kicking the f*** out of any Manc that gets ideas about trying to attack us
Extraordinary Swindle Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 If Mascherano is injured then Kuyt could be dropped to accomodate Sissoko and Lucas. Reina Arbeloa Hyypia Carragher Riise Sissoko Lucas Benayoun Gerrard Kewell TorresThe trio of Benayoun, Gerrard and Kewell can interchange to cause the Manc defense problems. Babel and Crouch to come on after 60+ minutes to grab the token goals.
matty Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Very tricky call this selection. If all are fit, I see no reason not to pick the same team, though I think Finnan might be a better bet at RB. Arbeloa to LB, but apart from that, no change. I don't see Ferguson taking risks on Sunday, will be a conservative team from them. We're going to atomize them.
