BG Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Slightly disconcerting article from Oliver Kay in tomorrow's Times. He seems to be being briefed. Rumours of a Board Meeting tonight apparently. Times
Cobs Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 seems like the same old baseless guesswork padded out to make his 500 words
sned Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 with BenÍtez urged to leave all transfer negotiations to Parry that sentence alone is enough to frighten the s*** out of anyone... on a more serious note, I didn't read anything untoward in the article. Rafa says sorry, the yanks slap him around a bit, then accept he's the best man for the job, and we move on... Changing the manager after the improvements we've made since Rafa took over achieves f*** all except we start all over again fron day one. Utterly pointless and far too stupid a decision for G&H to take surely...?
Rimbeux Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 He's been consistent in his views on this and relentless, so he must think he's on to something or very well informed. His Sunday Times equiv, Northcroft, got a lot of detail from the club a couple of weeks back. FWIW, I think Kay is on the mark.
Cobs Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Rafa says sorry, the yanks slap him around a bit, then accept he's the best man for the job, and we move on...i can't believe that didn't already happen a fortnight ago

Yes he's been consistent and I suspect he is also not miles away from the truth.
sned Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 i can't believe that didn't already happen a fortnight agofrom what I've read on various sites, it seems like rafa just can't get hold of the f*****s, and that's what pisses him off more than anything, and is largely to blame for the ill feeling. parry has somehow got hold of the yanks and been bought into the equation, seemingly at parry's own request, and all immediately goes t*** up...coincidence..? if G&H have any sort of sense, they've only got to look at the last 5 games or so, gauge the fans reactions and support, and then give him a friggin contract extension.
Cobs Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I suspect he is also not miles away from the truth.yeah, they're gonna meet up and sort all this out as per Hicks statement 2/3 weeks ago

Rimbeux Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 (edited) or not, as the case may be. So he's just willfully making things up he has no idea about? It's a point of view I suppose, but he, Fifield (before he moved -writes a lot on London atm) and Northcroft to name three are straight batters who tend to know their onions. sned Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 from what I've read on various sites Rafa's getting sacked and we're getting Mourinhorafa's tracksuit will be far too big.
Rimbeux Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 he's padding out a story with a load of old waffle. Aren't all pieces? Consistent view repeated here is unresolved issues with the working relationship of manager and owners/CEO and the actual role of the manager, not an issue of results, could go either way.
Cobs Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Aren't all pieces?yesConsistent view repeated here is unresolved issues with the working relationship of manager and owners/CEO and the actual role of the manager, yeah, we know, we were told they were having this meeting to sort it all out a few weeks ago could go either way. exactly - Trevor Brooking journalism - sit on the fence and be right whatever happens
Frosty Jack Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 So Rafa agrees net spend is relevant then?
Rimbeux Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 yesyeah, we know, we were told they were having this meeting to sort it all out a few weeks agoexactly - Trevor Brooking journalism - sit on the fence and be right whatever happens So he's probably right but it's nothing to start a thread about as you knew all this anyway?
Rimbeux Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 So Rafa agrees net spend is relevant then? but, but, it's all about when the players were sold.
RafaShanks Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Isn't Oliver Kay a Reds fans? Most concerning parts of the article: "the manager is not willing to let the club dilute his power or relax their spending in the transfer market, which he maintains is not comparable to that of Manchester United, who visit Anfield on Sunday" "but there are still clear differences in what BenÍtez and the owners expect of each other with regard to transfer policy" Even more concerning: "However, things have changed behind the scenes at Anfield, with BenÍtez urged to leave all transfer negotiations to Parry" I can only see one outcome if this isn't sorted out once and for all.

Agree.....and it will be sad one for All of us......which incidently will set us back another 3 years in terms of progress. Hope it wont happen and everyones EGOS are absent
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 the manager needs to be pulling at the board. It's all a game - a negotiation. The day Rafa is happy with what the board give him is the day he's lost interest
Frosty Jack Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 but, but, it's all about when the players were sold. yeah, so what are you saying, we should let them all go on bosmans? huh?
Guest L dude A reno Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 (edited) It's b******s. Not that there's anything really in what it said. Kay is a journalist first and foremost. And this story is still big news, especially with who we are playing. This guy has just rehashed an interview that Rafa gave to the Spanish media. And if you read that interview, you'd come away feeling rosy, it was a very positive one. But that makes for a s*** story. I just hope when this hack Kay is proved to be s***stirring people will see he's the same as all the other hacks out there. Edited December 14, 2007 by L dude A reno
mercury Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Oliver Kay loves Liverpool. His reports are generally very generous to us.
