The Kraken Wakes - by John Wyndham, of Midwich Cuckoos, Chrysallids and Day of The Triffids fame

a disciple of H G Wells, and one of my all time favourite authors

consistently wrote stories that induced paranoia in the wake of an implied impending attack from post apocalyptic mutants/killer plants/mind reading aliens etc etc

and yes, funny commentary of the much maligned ginger's goal

release the kraken is a quote from jason and the argonauts - I think spoken by John Geilgud or Olivier playing Zeus or summat

I'm disturbed to think that in 20 years time, when our kids and grandkids are watching clips of old Liverpool goals on the video screens implanted in their palms, they're going to think that Riise was one of our best players.

Kraken ( kra’ ken, IPA: /ˈkrɑːkɛn/) are legendary sea monsters of gargantuan size, said to have dwelled off the coasts of Norway and Iceland.

an one-footed, defensive liability, text messaging, ginger Kraken? hmm, i find it hard to believe myself. :hmm:

Sounds like Max Bretos. Allegedly an expert.

He’s a c*** how needs to be smacked in the mouth by one of those riise shots to wipe the smug grin from his face.

I agree. Every time I hear him try to sing with the crowd, I want to kick in my television.

Remember the announcer at the match mispronouncing Cisse? Cisse ffs.

He's not on so much these days it seems. Thankfully of course.
