Gunga Din Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 big game this, and we need to keep focused. there seems to have been an air of taking this one for granted, with most looking at the Marseille and Manc games, but this one is just as important. it will be interesting to see what side Rafa puts out tomorrow, it will probably give a huge indictaion of where his priorities lie this season. will he keep the likes of Gerrard and Torres fresh for wednesday, will he risk Carra and Hyppia tomorrow or give Hobbs a start? it will be interesting tomorrow to see what team lines out. for me, i'd stick with the best 11, play the same team as last week. thoughts?
Logic Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 With Carra one game away from suspension IIRC I'd rest him for this game. Otherwise same team.
honourablegeorge Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I had a dream last night that he rested Torres, and there was uproar. Seriously. I mean, what a crap dream, for starters. Why can't I get proper dreams, with Jessica Alba, and chocolate sauce? I blame this place.
Bigal Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 same team as porto or reading. CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rimbeux Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 One of the Reading coaches on the radio believes we are the most English in style of all the top teams, and so can be drawn into an English style game giving them more chance. I think he's taking the line that we play less of a quick passing game than the other teams, which they find harder to deal with.
Stevie H Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 attack, attack, attack. we're better than everyone else. don't give them any leeway, just get out there and beat them.

Puskas Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I'd be very surprised if Torres and Gerrard start against Reading. I expect they will be on the bench, just in case.

I also think we should rest Carra, and then otherwise the same team as porto.
Rimbeux Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 which coach was that? and has he seen chelsea play? Wally someone. Didn't go into detail, just said they're the most English. Get the feeling this has been the message, get them into a battle. That said, Reading are hardly long ball

M4TTA Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 i'll get in contact with Kitson and tell him to stay away from our goal
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I was thinking (thats what the noise was) that Rafa's rotation policy will be in full swing this Christmas. The next full week the players will have off is 12JAN-19JAN and thats only if we get knocked out of the Carling Cup at Chelsea. Whatever way things are rotated - keep Voronin away from Kuyt - I can take anything else. We should have Alonso and Agger back soon and our midfield options are excellent, just dont......mention the war !
fred milne Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 it will be interesting tomorrow to see what team lines out. for me, i'd stick with the best 11, play the same team as last week. thoughts? My guess is that Rafa won't start with both Gerrard and Torres - maybe one will start with the other on the bench but not both starting. I'd also be surprised if Crouch and Sissoko don't figure.
honourablegeorge Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Might be a good game for Lucas to continue his takeover of the entire world. No problem with resting Torres, as long as it's for the second half, when he's scored two. Carragher's the real issue, whether we risk him or not. We can't face United without him.
Mike Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 keep Voronin away from Kuyt never get out of the boat
honourablegeorge Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I reckon we stick Babel up front with one of them, let him run at them.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I think we have to risk Carra if Agger is not available. Doyle and Kitson are a very good strike force for a mid-table team and cant take them lightly at home.
Coyler Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Voronin and Kuyt should have too much for lowly Reading.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Voronin and Kuyt should have too much for lowly Reading. They didnt have enough for lowly Birmingham at Anfield and they never ever look like being too much for anybody in truth.
Cunny Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I think Momo will start against Marseilles so will not figure at Reading at all.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I think Momo will start against Marseilles so will not figure at Reading at all. Good, Marseille would become more complacent with him about
Bigal Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 They didnt have enough for lowly Birmingham at Anfield and they never ever look like being too much for anybody in truth. enough to beat the f***ing blues****
cymrococh Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 (edited) Voronin and Kuyt should have too much for lowly Reading. There is no fathomable reason not to play Torres or Crouch. Voronin and Crouch for me. Edited December 7, 2007 by Paul Caruso
