Hassony Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 our last 3 games Torres had 3 different partners up front, who do you think did best playing with Torres? and who would be the ideal striking partner if you can buy anyone now? (not before the 16th of course)
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Generally Crouch. Crouch will operate centrally in most games and wont get lost on the wings or back helping out midfield. It should generally result in the defenders having to focus on Crouch and Torres. The other lads sometimes get lost too far from the front line allowing more focus on Torres and making it harder for him. Obviously there are games when the work rate of Kuyt is valuable but in general, for the cannon fodder of the Premier League - Crouch.
Logic Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Probably Crouch of the players we have now. If we could buy anyone we should buy Zlatan and partner him with Torres. :runs for shelter:
Guest Kaizer Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Voronin. Crouch is the worst partner Torres can have from our current lot.
Guest Ant Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Fernando Torres doesn't need a partner. Partners need Fernando Torres
sutty Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 A comfortable chair, a nice glass of wine, a handful of lubricant and an old sock
Wardy Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Voronin. Crouch is the worst partner Torres can have from our current lot. In your opinion. In my opninion he's the best partner for Torres.
anny road Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 In your opinion. In my opninion he's the best partner for Torres. not normally one to back Kaizer, but i hate it when people say that of course its his opinion!!

Puskas Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 No partner. 4231 with Torres up front on his own.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Voronin. Crouch is the worst partner Torres can have from our current lot. Why and why, just curious - I gave my reasons
anny road Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 No partner. 4231 with Torres up front on his own. masch...alonso Benayoun...Gerrard...Babel .....Torres
Rimbeux Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Of the players at the club, Kuyt and Voronin ahead of Crouch. That's based on playing most of our games at home, and Crouch playing most of his game very central and high up, naturally pushing Torres wider and deeper and out of the areas he's most dangerous in much of the time. Kuyt and Voronin will do a lot more of the channel running and dropping off, leaving the central channel for Torres. Away from home on larger pitches where there might be some isolation of the frontmen, Crouch and Torres could form a more effective unit. Babel could be developed into the player, he has the touch, but needs to work on bringing others into the game, it's all about him right now. In general Bergkamp would have been perfect. In who's currently playing, I'd have Berbatov.
TheLa Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 There's only one person worthy of partnering Fernando Torres and that's Jesus Christ.
premania Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Valencia is going down and Villa will definitely look for a move...preferabally to EPL. I dont think Valencia will fancy selling him to Barca or Madrid. With the right price of money, I'm sure he could be affordable. May be next season's another 20 million signing by the Yanks for Rafa.

I would be of the opinion that we will be better than most of the teams we play and on that basis we would have Gerrard in midfield and probably 2 from 3 of Babel, Benayoun and Kewell on the wings. I think we would have enough attacking force coming from deep that it is better to have strikers focused on staying central to convert the chances that are made instead of being lost on the wing. Crouch's one that was cleared off the line and him winning the penalty are perfect examples for me, he operates where he is effective.

ManxRed Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 If we play a team who park the bus and play deep then Crouch. If we play a team who step up and leave channels for Torres to run into then Kuyt.
