Redkop Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Willing to offer £17m for Mascherano, because according to various rags... Liverpool are stalling on making a bid.
Kopfaithful Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Willing to offer £17m for Mascherano, because according to various rags... Liverpool are stalling on making a bid. did our deal not involve an option after the 18 months? if it did, surely we can stall until the option expires?
Rimbeux Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 did our deal not involve an option after the 18 months? if it did, surely we can stall until the option expires? As I understand it, and this may not be the case as it may depend on if he is here 'permanently' on an 18 month contract, or on loan, but he would be free to agree a deal abroad in Jan. It may also be the case he could agree a deal with anyone at anytime. One thing is clear, the player wants to know where he'll be playing and living for the next few years as soon as possible and he wants to stay here, lets hope he's still wanted or feels wanted.
John am Rhein Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 did our deal not involve an option after the 18 months? if it did, surely we can stall until the option expires? What sort of option? Surely Mascherano can sign for whoever he wants, regardless of whatever 'option' LFC may attempt to exercise?
Kahnee Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 As I understand it, he's ours for 18 months (loan), and we can buy him for £17m at the end. The problem is we didn't include a first option clause in the deal (if I understood what Kia Thingie was mumbling on about on The Game)
Swagger Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 He has always said that he prefers staying with us. If the club (i.e. H&G) do not come up with the cash, I'm sure he'll have much better options than Man City ...
AJ The Red Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 He is ours for 18 months no matter what really. Wtf is going on though , we take this guy on an 18 month contractand he starts showing what a great player he is.Are we just groominghim for someone else or doesnt our idiot ie parry see that any otherclub but ours would have had a clause in the contract allowing us tobuy him permanent. beggers belief the shambles we have in the upstairs staff sometimes.
Rimbeux Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 (edited) This is how the world works. Liverpool decide They want a player. At a time suiting Us, as close to the close of the window as possible so as to avoid any silliness with negotiating a fee upwards over a week or two as clubs do to one as big as Us, We will contact the club he plays for and state Our intention to buy him. The president of that club, with the due respect he has for Us and the honour of dealing with Us, will quickly agree to a fair price and allow Us to tell the humbled player his dream move is on. Occasionally a player may have already moved to another club before it was appropriate for Us to make Our move, simply because that club paid him and the selling club far more money than he's worth, in which case they are not the kind of player We want at this club. The_Adder Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Put its simply: Man City can f*** OFF!! Masch wants to stay here and I've no doubt the 'Americans' will sort it, otherwise everyone of us should boot them in the balls every time we see them.

I don't think that approach will generally get the highest quality players to join us. Which ok if we actually hold these principles in higher esteem that winning the major trophies, but I'm not convinced we actually do.
Gomez Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Even if we do refuse to pay £17m for Masch, I would imagine bigger and better clubs than man city would be waiting to snap him up.
John am Rhein Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 whoosh...! ...rare for you Mr Am Rhein So, in conclusion: sign Mascherano before someone else does.
Molby Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 whoosh...! ...rare for you Mr Am Rhein yeah dummkopf - was soll das?
honourablegeorge Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Independent reckon Benitez has "indicated" (no quotes) that he'd prefer to sell Riise and/or Sissoko, than lose Mascherano. http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/pr...icle3223641.ece

San Diego Red Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Javier clearly said he wants to play for us, and if not he'll move abroad. He doesn't want to play for another team in the PL.

johngibo YPC Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I heard that the owners don't see the point in signing a player now, when we have him until the summer anyway
Swagger Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I heard that the owners don't see the point in signing a player now, when we have him until the summer anyway Someone should really take the time to explain to them how this football transfer business works ...
Swagger Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Selling Riise will be like signing a new player Not a big fan of Riise, but I wouldn't sell him just yet, not with Aurelio spending all his life in treatment.
Tosh Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I heard that the owners don't see the point in signing a player now, when we have him until the summer anyway You've obviously beens pending far too much time with journalists. I suggest you sit down in a dark room and take some strong laxatives for a purge!
