Both consistently score goals and are a threat.

Kuyt is a rabid dog and Voronin is gash.

By default

Very disappointed with the positions Voronin took up, it was like he was playing official decoy runner.

Anyway, as long as you get two or three guys close to Crouch who have pace, he can mix it with anyone. Needs that threat of pace in behind to give him a bit of room and guys to play in.

Character great tonight, even the wobble was overcome

i think it's slowly becoming clear, those guys are our best forwards. Not sure whats happened to Kuyt, he showed great potential, but just .. ack dunno :(

Torres and Crouch evry time for me

Voronin either great or not at the races type of player

Kuyt heavily critisised recently, would not completely wright him off just yet, will play important role this season especially if we area challenging on all fronts.

Torres and Crouch it has to be, if not then play Babel up front.

I don't know what Voronin was up to, he was nowhere near the goal or Torres.

Kuyt has game intelligence and workrate but I think that he will be replaced in the summer.

It's harder to play a high tempo game and break with great pace with Crouch IMO. He is simply not quick enough. However, he offers something different from the rest of the strikers. The only duplication of style is Veronin and Kuyt; and between the two, I'll take Veronin because I see him as a better finisher.

Voronin and Kuyt need to be back-up strikers called upon when Crouch and Torres need a rest. Torres can be quiet for long periods but then in a flash you see his class. Crouchy is hard to mark and creates problems not only with his height but the fact that he is very good with the ball at his feet.

I don't agree. Playing a high tempo game granted Crouch won't be on the end of chances but playing from deep with someone like Torres Crouch can play him in from deep on the break. He's a wonderful link player in my book.

when we play Crouch, we do go tend to boot the ball up to him when possible. The kind of football that we play in the first 20 minutes today with quick incisive passing would be difficult to acheive IMO if Crouch is playing. To play a really high tempo game, I do think you need two players who have great pace, albeit that one of them is playing the role of a link player.

That is not to say that I don't want Crouch around. Horses for courses so to speak.

Disagree on current form. Kuyt is looking more and more like a wide midfield clogger at the moment.

Love the guy but he was brought on to help keep it tight and close the game out. For Babel.

loads of kneejerk in this thread. voronin's not become a bad player on one match. and kuyt made torres look great on saturday.

There were games when Nunez made Baros look good... ok maybe a stretch too far.

He's not s**** Stevie, but he's cleary not been great of late.

The difference between Crouch and Voro is big.

Some stato will prove me wrong but... Crouch has started less games than voro, but scored more? i think?

It seems to me that when Crouch is given his chance he takes it with goals. Voro adds to the squad sure.. and better than what we had. However i don't think he's a better player than Kuyt or Crouch and Crouch is pipping Kuyt atm.

That make sense? i've had a few :bleh:

Torres and Crouch would be my prefered partnership, but i think we are writing the others off to quick. Dirk is not playing well at the minute but he was superb last year and we were all delighted with his signing. Im sure he will come good again. Voronin has had some good games for us and settles in quickly. He still has his part to play.

Voronin isn't gash. But I think he thrives on the movement and intelligent play of the players around him - and Babel, Benayoun and Gerrard didnt offer that tonight.

Torres is f***ing amazing but if we're going to challenge on all fronts this season then rest assured all four strikers + Babel and Kewell will have a big role to play.

Kuyt ws excellent Saturday, an almost perfect foil for Torres; Voronin the best man on the pitch vs Besiktas (without scoring, or needing to); Crouch was awful against Marseille etc. etc. Each does and can bring something, and each can be off form.

El Nino though, is solid gold. All hail!

Completely agree, reading this thread is hilarious.

voronin has a problem with headers...he never actually tries to win a ball in the air, he just backs into his man. does my head in.
