Guest Sabre Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 If Besiktas beat Marseille, we only have to win one and draw one, right?
Sion Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 If Besiktas beat Marseille, we only have to win one and draw one, right? I think If we beat Porto and Besiktas beat Marseille, any sort of win would do against Marseille, draw and we're out on agg. If we draw against Porto and Besiktas beat Marseille, any sort of win would do against Marseille If we draw against Porto and Besiktas draw with Marseille we need to beat Marseille by 2 or more goals or a 1 goal margin with an away goal, draw/1-0 win would put them through If we lose to Porto and Besiktas beat Marseille, we need Porto to beat/draw with Besiktas and we need to beat Marseille by 2 or more goals or a 1 goal margin with an away goal If Marseille beat Besitas, we need to win both our remaining games.
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 We should win both games anyway. Both tough games but we'll do it.

bobbyboulders Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 The atmosphere was always going to be good, but I think the game's taken on special significance so I'll be disappointed if it's not up there with the best. Porto are in for a shock. Perhaps that was Rafa's intention all along
Guest Snorky Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 We need to win both games to end all the speculation.
Hassony Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 We need to win both games to end all the speculation. 9-0 tomorrow would be nice
honourablegeorge Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 We need to win both games to end all the speculation. We need to win every game betwene now and next summer, just to be sure. No point taking any risks, I reckon.

M4TTA Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Xabi and Agger both miss out agian http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...071127-1446.htm Xabi Alonso and Daniel Agger will not be fit to face Porto in Wednesday's crucial Champions League clash.Rafa Benitez confirmed the pair, along with long-term absentee Jermaine Pennant, were his only injury worries ahead of the Group A game. This means Yossi Benayoun, who has been out for two weeks with an adductor injury, could return to face the Portuguese champions. Steve Finnan has also recovered from a knock sustained against Newcastle on Saturday. Both Agger and Alonso have been out with metatarsal injuries since Pompey on September 15, though Alonso returned briefly against Arsenal at the end of October.

Guy_Incognito Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I've managed to get the very worst seats in the house - back row of the lower anny. Postbox view and far too fecking hot! Still can't bloody wait, though
Guest Kaizer Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Porto have never won in England and they wont after tonight either. But they are a good team and have not lost at all this season and they dont concede many goals either, so I dont think it will be an easy match. CL: 4 matches: 2 - 2 - 0 5-3 8p League: 11 matches: 9-2-0 20-4 29p
Swagger Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 We should win both games anyway. Both tough games but we'll do it. I'm quietly optimistic that we will.
Huyton_Red Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) Can someone just clarify what happens if we draw and marseille draw as well tonight That will leave us three points off marseille, if we beat them over there would it come down to goal difference or does it come down to results between the two teams ? I have the answer to my question here, we would only need to beat them, even 1-0 to go throuh as we have the better overall goal difference 1) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among theteams in question;2) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teamsin question;3) higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matchesplayed among the teams in question;4) superior goal difference from all group matches played; Edited November 28, 2007 by Huyton_Red
Huyton_Red Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 We could lose tonight and still go through If Marseille win tonight we have to win If Marseille draw tonight we have to draw If Marseille lose we can lose and still go through by beating marseille away IF porto beat or draw with bestikas in the last game So we want marseille to lose tonight ideally

Dan Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 If we don't win tonight, we simply do not deserve to go through. What even if we finish second? Who would deserve it over us then?
The_Adder Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 What even if we finish second? Who would deserve it over us then? If we get beat tonight I'm throwing myself off Runcorn Bridge to swim with the fishes! Someone should give that Quasimodo fella a bone rattler in the first 5, Masch, I am relying on you son
Ronnie Whelan Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 3-0 tonight. Torres, Gerrard & Hyypia.
