In Rafa's words "something changed" after the Arsenal game.

What was it?

I am convinced it is a tacit agreement between Rick Parry and Jose Mourinho

that he will replace Rafa at the end of the season.

This would explain a whole host of things. It would explain the almost pathetic spin coming out of the G & H camp in the past 24 hours that they are concerned Rafa 'is not the man to lead us to the league title'. It would explain Rafa's hands being tied in the transfer market (the same tactic Parry apparently used with Houllier in his final season). It would explain Parry's otherwise inexplicable silence for several months now. And of course it would explain the constant links with the man I'm about to go on a diatribe against, the aforementioned Sr. Mourinho.

Now, what would it mean if Mourinho replaced Rafa? On a personal note I think he is an absolute c*** of a man and I know I am far from alone in thinking that. This is someone who has disrespected us and our club on numerous occasions - not just in the Carling Cup Final but other occasions. He did his best to get our best player to leave us, his boyhood club, while he was our captain and under contract. He is a media whore who likes nothing better than when the camera is focused on him. Most damning, in my eyes, he has (apparently) played a major role in undermining the club's best manager in a generation.

"But he's a winner" I hear some of you say. Well, it looks like we're about to find out. Mourinho is desperate to prove he can win without being bankrolled by a Russian oligarch. I have serious doubts. I never joined in with those who caricatured him as seriously lacking in tactical ability and I think we would continue to excel defensively under him. But his record in the transfer market is chequered to say the least. He has wasted countless millions on transfer fees and wages (even if Shevchenko is not counted). Apart from Drogba he has not bought a quality forward. He lumps centre-halves up front when he is confronted by a better manager. Etc., etc.

So in my opinion, G & H are not planning to sack Rafa because he is 'outspoken'. Why would they plan to bring in Mourinho if that was the case? No, I think Parry has convinced them that (a) Mourinho is the man to lead us to the promised land of the Premiership (b) he will not need or want a lot of funds because he is determined to show that he can win without being bankrolled and © the supporters want Mourinho or are at least open to the idea of him replacing Rafa.

So there you have it. I for one will be looking at taking a long holiday from the game if Mourinho replaces Rafa - at least under these circumstances. I hope and pray I'm wrong about this but it doesn't look good.

And you spent yesterday telling other people they didn't have a clue?!?!

Parry and Moores rejected Mourinho after Houllier left - apparently on the basis of his antics in the Porto game at Old Trafford.

Why would he therefore counsel the new owners to sack Rafa to get Mourinho?

Strange post with little logic. Don't buy it at all.

Not really a tactic, is it? If you've decided to get a different manager in, makes sense to keep hold of the money until he arrives rather than letting his predecessor spend it.
