1. Gerrard - now THAT is how he can play. Fec off Ingerlund :D

2. Lucas - a player indeeed!

3. Fernando Torres - he can save the goals for when we really need them.

Babel, Kewell, Kuyt, Alvaro and Finnan all worthy of mention too.

Without question...

1. Gerrard - best performance the captain has put in so far this season

2. Lucas - kept things tidy & organized in midfield. very Xabi-esque

3. Babel - fantastic even though he only played the 2nd half

honorable mentions:

- Momo - slow start but was a tackling force once he settled in

- Kewell - pure quality when he's fit & healthy like today

- Torres - squandered too many chances

No he wasn't because Newcastle hardly had the ball at all. He went from horrible to slightly average. He was carried by the better players today.

MoM - Gerrard

Lucas

Torres

b/c Momo applied continuous pressure & won the ball right off them each time Newcastle had possession.

1. Rafa (Against all odds and media pressure got a great result)

2. Gerrard (against all Newcastle booing produced a world class goal and a performance that any team would br proud of)

3. Torres (without doubt the best signing since Dalglish) he tried and kept going - put money on him scoring this week!!!!

1. gerrard - just different class.

2. lucas - got a right player here.

3. kuyt - put recent critique behind him and played really well.

hyypia, torres, kewell all played well too. good to see finnan back to himself as well.

No crazy person, because Newcastle are dreadful and Momo too was dreadful today and was carried for much of the game, the players wouldn't pass to him he was that bad.

He wasn't the only one mind you. Kuyt was equally bad, which is no surprise to me. I called for him to be benched ages ago and he should stay benched for a long time.

We dominated the game despite the pair of them and thanks to Newcastles ineptitude.

if you're going w/ the "Newcastle are dreadful" defense, then you might as well write off all our players performances on the day! :hmm:

i'm not saying Momo was passing Newcastle off the park or anything... after all, he did concede possession fairly often in the first half... but he came out strong in the second half & did exactly what Rafa put him in there to do in the first place: stifle & frustrate the opposition w/ his industrious tackling.
