spacemonkey Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Just stumbled across this. The German band Die Toten Hosen (The Dead Trousers?) were in Istanbul for the final and claimed to the players after the game that they sing YNWA at the end of every concert. The players didn't believe it so here's the compilation from various subsequent performances around Germany and Switzerland with them leading the crowd through it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PDDQPxe_do...feature=related Admittedly not bad, but what I want to know is how they'd get on with Every Other Saturday.
dodgy1 Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Their lead singer Campino is good mates with Didi Hamman.
dodgy1 Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Another one of their songs Long way from LiverpoolMy heart it gets so heavyby the end of May,but when it gets to Augustyou know I'll feel okay.I didn't choose to be born here,it's just a freak of birth, but before I die hereI wanna kiss that turf. Cause it's a long, long way from Liverpool, where the boys go crazy and the girls are cool, and no one sings like the Kop can do.We love you. The bread's on the table, the car's in the drive. But I don't wanna stay here,I just wanna survive.I know I'll never walk aloneand my favourite colour's red,as long as I'm so far awayI may as well be dead.Cause it's a long, long way from Liverpool, where the boys go crazy and the girls are cool, and no one sings like the Kop can do. Yes it's a long, long way from Liverpool, where the girls say no, but they always do,and no one sings like the Kop can do.We love you.
Coyler Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Please tell me that that's a translation from the German.
smicer07 Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Do they sing old songs very few people know so as to make them look like superfans?
spacemonkey Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 @ Coyler: no, I checked and apparently they sing that in English. To be fair, though, their speciality is more in punk rock and drinking-themed songs where they have some cracking successes such as "Kein Alkohol ist auch keine Lösung" (No alcohol is also not a solution), "Zehn Kleine Jaegermeister" (10 little Jaegermeisters) and "Eisgekuehlter Bommerlunder" (Ice-cold Bommerlunder - kind of schnapps).
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 It is in English and is apparently available to download for free on filesharing sites such as Limewire. However, downloading music from those sites is depriving artists of an income.
Frosty Jack Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 RTK have been touring european cities, leafleting, and a have a "walk-on" information centre in their bus.
