The_Adder Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Seriously, the guy is a threat, as tonight clearly proved. Hes got goals in him and at the moment the other two don't look like they have, Dirk and Voronin just aint looking like they are gonna put the ball in the net no matter where they get it. For me Torres and Crouch are our top two strikers, our two main goal scorers from the front four, AT LEAST one needs to play EVERY game otherwise we look as sharp as Dirks hairstyle. I'd be sad to see him go in Jan, espesh since the other two will still be here. I've been a big fan of Kuyt, was well chuffed when we signed him, thought he was gonna be our Shearer (!), but it aint turned out that for one reason or another. I hope Crouch gets more of a look in before January, he could prove Rafa wrong for leaving him out so much.
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 There's no excuse for his under-use in the absence of Torres. otherwise we look as sharp as Dirks hairstyle. nice simile
Guest GrandpaSimpson Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 He made his point brillantly tonight. Earlier in the seasons seemed like he was sulking, hopefully he's over that, and cant force his way back into contention. He's more of a goal threat than Kuyt and Voronin.
Cobs Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 i think Rafa knows how good Crouch is which makes the last month or so all the more annoying. really hope he stays come January.
mathewbet1 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Hes got to get a run of games now, him and torres upfront please. Crouch flicking things on for torres. Gerrard plays better with crouch in the team and opposing defenders defend deeper because crouch stay high up the pitch rather than coming into midefield too much ala kuyt.
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Hes got to get a run of games now, him and torres upfront please. Crouch flicking things on for torres. Problem with that is Rafa likes to play both of them as our most advanced player which makes it all the more confusing that he hasn't featured with Torres out of the side.
Guest Kaizer Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 So you thought Crouch was better than Voronin today? Are you on acid?
Siang Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 i would be surprise if Crouch starts this weekend
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 So you thought Crouch was better than Voronin today? Are you on acid? Both did very well, Voronin as a link player - he was unstoppable - and Crouch, continuing where he left off with his last 2 sub apps, was sharp
Guest Kaizer Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Both did very well, Voronin as a link player - he was unstoppable - and Crouch, continuing where he left off with his last 2 sub apps, was sharp I think Crouch did well apart from the time when he managed to miss target when Voronin set him up with a superb pass even if Crouch had got himself into an offside position, and a few times I think he lost the ball to easily when he came deep to collect it. He had a good game, but Voronin was superior.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I don't disagree. I think that until Voronin was subbed he was MoTM. Yossi shaded it though
Guest Kaizer Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I don't disagree. I think that until Voronin was subbed he was MoTM. Yossi shaded it though It was a close call between them for me, but I gave it to Voronin because I dont think its fair to take it away from him just because he was rested, the last 20, but Beni did great, compared to the right winger we had last season he was out of this world.
Nebraska Red Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Crouch showed us that if he has the right support and gets some decent crosses into him, he can do a job for us. Kewell coming back can only help Crouch, and Yossi could be the new Luis Garcia as he picks up the flick ons and puts away the scraps in the box. we were moving the ball around tonight and it kept their defnders guessing, we have to do more of that in the league games.
12twelve Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I think Crouch wasn't in the team for a couple of weeks because he wasn't showing the right attitude. He's had a few stinkers earlier in the season which everyone seems happy to forget. The Arsenal and Blackburn appearances are probably a turning point for Crouch in Rafa's eyes. He earned the start v Besiktas with those two performances. Crouch was good last night, but you have to take into consideration the fact that no Besiktas players bothered to put pressure on him.

Stevie H Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 hopefully turned a corner last night, crouch. even his post-match interview was more professional than of late.
Murphman Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 My brother (Everton fan) sent me a text last night. Peter Crouch was just interviewed on Sky. 'What would you be if you weren't a professional footballer?' 'A Virgin'. F*ck it, I had to laugh....
RP Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 So you thought Crouch was better than Voronin today? Are you on acid? The childish argument resurfaces. One player can't play well - you have to relate it to the performance of another and use it as some kind of stick to beat one of them with. It's pathetic. Crouch played well, as did Voronin. This isn't Championship Manager.
Siang Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 like i posted earlier, would Rafa start Crouch this weekend given it's a home game and no travelling is involved? or for that matter, keep the same line-up except put Kewell in Riise position
sutty Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 If this is all about him not signing a new deal then he probably hasn't proved anything His underuse for the last 15 months is bizarre
Murphman Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I don't disagree. I think that until Voronin was subbed he was MoTM. Sweet Jaisus!!
Rimbeux Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 So you thought Crouch was better than Voronin today? Are you on acid? What's that got to do with the price of bread? This thread is about why when one centre forward is out our only other one aint been getting a game
beejay Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 What's that got to do with the price of bread? This thread is about why when one centre forward is out our only other one aint been getting a game To be fair to Kaiser, he was responding to a post saying that PC should start ahead of Voronin because of his goal threat etc. What last night did emphasise was the fact we have a balanced strike force with Crouch or Torres leading the line and Voronin or Kuyt as link strikers.
