Chili Palmer Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 in footballing terms? Masch, kewell and Yossi were the only players out there that seemed to have a clue.
Chili Palmer Posted November 3, 2007 Author Posted November 3, 2007 Negative tactics that is all easy option to say that. negative tactics did not make Kuyt make the wrong choice every time negative tactics did not make Carra hoof it every time negative tactics did not make Gerrards run s**** when Kuyt was through
Mike S Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 (edited) I think that gerrard is generally quite an intelligent player but that run in front of kuyt was just ridiculous Edited November 3, 2007 by Mike S
Rimbeux Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I think that gerrard is generally quite an intelligent player but that run in front of kuyt was just ridiculous Maybe they need to practice that sort of thing more. I saw 4 goals in the early game that were essentially the result of great execution of the classic third man running move to beat the offside, simple yet brilliantly effective. Both sides do it a lot and must work on it a lot.

Chili Palmer Posted November 3, 2007 Author Posted November 3, 2007 But they do make us play s***. I could understand you saying they make us play unattractive football, or they make us play for draws, but tactics do not pass the ball, players do. (or our lot try to)

(or our lot try to) How many times did we play the ball back instead of going forward until the last 20 minutes or so. ? Watching us is like getting teeth pulled with no needle to numb the pain. It's boring and frustrating and part of the time it's like I want the opposition to score first so we have to attack more.

Guest SpiritualWarrier Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Are you just going to ignore everything he says? We couldn't pass the ball forwards because there was no-one upfront, it had to back, sideways, back, sideways, back, back, back, back, hoof. Because our tactics are negative.
Guz Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Dont think our players are bold enough either a lot of the time. Our best moment in the first half (babel shot) came when Yossi got the ball and had the b******s to keep it for a moment, use a bit of skill while moving forward and play someone through out wide. It was flowing, quick and incisive. Arsenal do it all the time because they back their own ability 99 times out of a 100. I'm sure that comes from the manager and within the player himself
Guest Fonzarella Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 We couldn't pass the ball forwards because there was no-one upfront, it had to back, sideways, back, sideways, back, back, back, back, hoof. Because our tactics are negative. Two questions:1. Will you still be posting when Torres, Alonso & Agger are back and we're winning again?2. Do you honestly think that Rafa coaches the players to pass backwards/sideways? Two comments:1. Get some f**kin perspective!2. The reason why people get annoyed at your posts is because you sound like a broken record. What makes this forum fun to read is when people post fresh perspectives, humor and the occasional rant. But when its the same boring rant over and over and in every thread on the board it gets old.
josemisuncle Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 in footballing terms? Masch, kewell and Yossi were the only players out there that seemed to have a clue.'fraid you are right mate,. The collective IQ is subterranean when Xabi is out
kick316 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 We couldn't pass the ball forwards because there was no-one upfront, it had to back, sideways, back, sideways, back, back, back, back, hoof. Because our tactics are negative. I think that best describes our pattern of play for the majority of the match However rather than solely blaming our negative tactics, I think that Blackburn’s gameplan was a major contributing factor. They seemed happy to stop us from playing and set out their stall early on. We are Liverpool and should expect to win all games. But we have to be practical sometimes and at the end of the day, a draw at Ewood park is not that bad a result. Other than the Birmingham and Tottenham games the results that we have had in the league have been OK (not spectacular but OK).
growler Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 I recorded the game and watched it an hour after kick off at 1.4 times normal speed. Its interesting watching it at that speed, because you actually see how many times we misplace a pass, miss a run, or make the wrong run. Its bad news when blackburn are out passing liverpool. Until the last 40, we were crap.
Cooldude Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 I believe some of them genuinely are It's only when we introduced obviously Crouch and Kewell who has a lot more intelligence and technical ability on the ball that we started to look better. One of the main thing is actually having two strikers up there, although with the way Kuyt was playing it really didn't mattered whether it was 2 or 1 up front We just looked so much better when the likes of Masch, Kewell, Gerrard can use Crouch as a vocal point and play around him. It's really sad that we haven't even bought a replacement for Kewell and has to constantly rely on him to be the saviour of our left side. He cannot be relied upon due to his injuries. Yet sadly, he is a cracking footballer. Really is
RafaShanks Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Simple fact is that we have a lot of average players. Average players make the wrong decisions time and time again.
_00_deathscar Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Our players most definitely are stupid - for proof, see game vs Tottenham when Torres leaves his marker for dead, squares the ball to Voronin, who then decides to "Arsenal (pre-2007/2008 season)" it by cutting it back for Gerrard, who arses up the shot. Also, see last night - Finnan plays Kuyt through down the wing, Kuyt makes it to the byline hoping to find options in the box - he sees Babel holding back for the cut, and Gerrard absolutely CHARGING at Kuyt - what on bleeding earth was that run all about? Bloody imbeciles the lot of them...
Tosh Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Rafa talks about intelligent players Could they be the type of players who can do TWO things at once: stop the opposition playing AND play? Xabi is a good example of this. However much he's stuck in defensive mode, he can switch the play very quickly.
