coldox Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 For all his effort, Kuty is having a dreadful season - why is Rafa playing him?

Hassony Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 he has scored 5 goals so far, so its not that dreadful the problem today is that he shold have started with crouch rather than on his own

Because under Rotation it was his turn to play the full 90 minutes regardless of form. He will not start on Tuesday but will on Saturday. Voronin will start on Tuesday, and Crouch will be on the bench for both games because for some reason unknown to others Rafa has got a huge big personal problem with Crouch because out of all the players Crouch is not getting a fair crack of the whip.
mathewbet1 Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 If Rafa is playin a lone striker then crouch should on current form get the nod, i agree crouch seems to been snubbed by rafa this season. Kuyt can get away with the hard work ethic, with no end product when he plays alongside the world class striker that is fernando torres. But on his own Kuyt is proving to be lookig like a 1st division player. If Rafa persists with a blinkered approach to the stiker situation i think it will ultimately loose hime the confidence of the fans, then who knows. I think is blantely obvious our two best strikers at the club are torrescroucheither or kuyt / voronin in that order ( apologigies ryan babel who could do a job i belive playing just behind crouch)
Elisha_Scott Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Kuyt today was so bad it was embarrassing. The one where he was played in down the right, then ran it in to the box and just let Friedel pick it up, he then just pointed at Friedel, I was cringing for him.

Yeh, nasty Brad wouldn't let him score.

That was bad from Kuyt, but your mate made a shocking run, didn't help him one bit.

Leroy Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Rafa`s keeping face as it was his first big (in his eye`s) signing, the guy is not just good enough and yes he is an embarresment. We need to get a top coach in to work with Rafa ASAP before it all falls apart, he`s taking fullresponsability over everything & it wont work.

Was that the one where Gerrard helped him f*** up or was that later?
floyd the barber Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 ive been a supporter of kuyt.......but after today, i might`ve had enough

Not necessarily his fault since he's not a forward but between him and bale one should have pulled off to the pen spot and the other gone to the far post. Kuyt was very poor today but he simply isn'ty a lone striker and likewise Gerrard isn't a link player/support stiker. Stevie looked far better when he dropped deeper when Crouch came on. I can't really criticise Kuyt too miuch because he gives it his all but at some point we need just that bit of extra quality rather than a hard worker

At least with Cisse he had pace and more a goal threat.

coldox Posted November 4, 2007 Author Posted November 4, 2007 he wasnt much good that day either, unless you are giving points for trying to kill Neville, and he tried his best to miss the second peno as the keeper got a hand to it...

You mean the run to the near post ages after Kuyt should haver put the ball across the box for him to score?Poor decision making by Kuyt, simple as that.
Cheesecake Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 that sequence of play had 'simple tap in' from Gerrard written all over it, Kuyt could have taken a couple of touches and rolled it across - GOAL. What happened next was a f*** up of Ronny Rozethal v Villa proportions.

As the ball broke to him down the right hi first touch was dreadful taking him to the byline and cutting down his options, he then just couldn't make a decision, maybe down to confidence, maybe ability. Either way, it was embarrassing.
Cam Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 As Hansen pointed out, Kuyt had a couple of opportunities to cross it for Gerrard. He made a big feck-up. But Gerrard's run was just as embarrassing. WTF was he going to do - take it off his foot? Tackle him? Kuyt was devastating in Holland. Was he told immediately by Rafa to stay out of the box? Get him in there and have a proper strike partner alongside him at all times. Today's formation was more like 4-6-0. Rafa's occasional insistence on using him as a right-winger is mental - but it's Rafa that needs looking at for that, not Kuyt.
