Xabi's injury was just one of those things but Torres was clearly unfit from the first minute.

 

How our staff thought he was okay to play is beyond me

Isn't Rafa with the players every day, shouldn't he have seen that Alonso wasn't fit and neither was Torres?

Think Lucas has to play instead of Alonso, time to go like for like, we saw what we've been missing with Alonso today.

 

Rafa is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt, if he hadnt played Alonso and Torres today he'd have been attacked and now they've picked up injuries people will say they shouldnt have played. He can't win.

Xabi breaking the same bone is unfortunate. Torres playing with an injury is stupidity. He was struggling from kick off.

 

How the hell the medical team thought he was fit to play I have no idea.

East to say after the event.

Apparently Torres was near ready for Everton, so not suprised he started today.

With Xabi I think its just plain bad luck. He's been out long enough for it to heal, I would have thought. I'm sure the medics gave the go-ahead.

 

Xabi especially, is going to be a hell of a miss - again :(

He just told Geoff Shreeves that Torres has aggravated his injury and Xabi has broken the same metatarsal

 

Not good news....

 

We could be in for a bumpy ride the next few weeks.

Alonso was fit, after he picked up the pace of the game he was starting to gain control of midfield. It's just bad luck.

I don't think people would have criticised Rafa for not playing two unfit players. If they're not fit they're not fit.

O b****x, not good news at all then, probably shouldn't have risked them

 

Rafa' s just said that Torres was close for the derby so with an extra week to prepare he was worth the risk. It shows beyond any doubt that Crouch is out if someone makes a decent bid in Jan.

I take back what I said regarding Alonso but the same still stands for Torres...

 

The whole reason why rotation is their is that No players HAVE to play, their is always someone behind them.

 

I know I have been hoping Torres will be back as much as everyone else, but I wouldn't hold it against Rafa if the said player wasn't fit, that would just be stupid

 

Also Quite Clearly Torres didn't have to play at all Crouch was better than him when he came on (Although I would of liked to have seen Babel their instead, if not starting)

Yeah im sure had Alonso and Torres been on the bench today everyone would have been happy. Alonso's looks like a freak injury that would have happened wither way, not sure about Torres but if he was very close last week you have to think he was ok.

I reckon Rafa picked Torres knowing he was still injured in the hope that he would injure himself running around and be out for a month. Wahoo.
