The performance in the stands was almost as bad as that on the pitch. Although the lad next to me observed that Cisse almost got more support as a visitor than he received as a player. A fair few did stay and applaud Marseilles at the end which at least shows some of the old respect for opponents remains. Otherwise it was just one more disappointment on a rotten night.

Agree. I was right next to the Marseille fans so it was always gonna be difficult to properly judge, but it sounded like we got properly outsung for the whole 90.

 

And did the booing come across loud on the telly? I expected it unfortunately, but didn't think that it was that bad. Sounded like it was just a couple of pockets around where I was (Main Stand).

Yup. you could hear it loud and clear. We all know it was a poor performance but the type of behaviour is f***ing unacceptable. As much as I hate to say it, that attitude is mainly exhibited by day trippers. Im not making a generalisation, as im a frequent day or weekend tripper and dont condone that sort of s***e, but from experience, a lot of it comes from that. On a few occasions I have got into arguments with fellow travellers over their constant waffling and giving out about existing players. Crouch is f***ing useless, Momo is s***e etc etc. If you are in Anfield, you are there to support the side, not to be entertained. If you can have both, then happy days but primarily you are there to support the side. Day trip to old toilet if thats how your going to behave.

Embarrassing when you can hear the opposition fans giving it the "Ole" though.

Not if they are booing like that they're not. They are followers of LFC rather than supporters. Might as well be at old toilet than spouting s***e in Anfield.

Not sure if i went into a trance of disappointment but I'm pretty sure there wasn't a YNWA at the end...

 

all i seem to remember is ''booooooooo' then 'cisse cisse cisse'

yeah ronnie and has been proven in the past , last night and indeed will happen at some point in the future, your fans boo...the idea that liverpool fans have never booed or will never boo because you think theyre some sort of ideal fans is a f***ing nonsense, i know you think win or lose youll all sing YNWA, proudly clap your defeated team off then retire in a nice orderly fashion to the nearest drinking establishment to break down exactly the tactics used and discuss the finer points of the game in your "most knowledgeable fans in the world" way...but thats a pile of steaming dogturds.

You should get reclaim the kop onto them...they wouldnt allow this sort of thing.

And yet people will make all sorts of excuses for the players and manager yet tell the supporters to go and support somebody else?

 

The fans have every right to be upset. Booing may not be the best way to express it but perhaps the team and manager need some sort of message.

Am I right in thinking that Alan Brazil was spat at by Man Utd fans in the Paddock whilst a Man Utd player, warming up as a substitute?

goes to show they're not all bad.
