Cam Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 ReinaFinnan Carragher Hyypia RiisePennant Gerrard Mascherano BabelKuyt Torres Not just for Spurs but until January (except for Agger, possibly Alonso) when a decent winger & Villa can be bought. Rest 1 (ONE!) player every handful of games. Certainly no more than two. When resting players use the squad players or slowly introduce kids, giving them experience. Only play kids in teams with nine or ten other first-choicers - not surrounded by deadwood or other kids. Management = piece of p!ss.
Guest Snorky Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 At the moment I would start with the same team that started against Marseille. Although that will probably change a million times before we kick-off. I think those players would like the chance to prove just how good they really are.
growler Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 never really thought highly of Sissoko and Aurelio, so would prefer Riise and Masc in the team instead. Also, Babel on the left instead of Leto. And Kuyt instead of Crouch.

Magic8Ball Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 if we dont spank spurs given their recent form, I would say we are in a more serious slump than we realise
muleskinner Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Arbeloa, Kuyt, Mascherano, Babel and Pennant will come in for Aurelio, Crouch, Sissoko, Benayoun and Leto. Possibly Voronin for Torres also.
psl Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 We certainly need to get our home form back on track.
Stevie H Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 if we dont spank spurs given their recent form, I would say we are in a more serious slump than we realisethey're shipping goals but we don't remotely look like creating chances at the minute. got draw written all over it.

Logic Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 --------------ReinaFinnan---Carra------Arbeloa--------Aurelio-----------------Mascherano---------Gerrard--------------BenayounPennant---------------------------------Babel--------------------TorresAgreed, except more in the way of Benitez' old 4-2-3-1 with Yossi behind Torres.
Magic8Ball Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 rearranging the pieces wont help us IMO we're missing players who are turning out to have no replacements - Agger --- ball playing CH Alonso - passer par excellence a ball carrier - normally Pennant who's form has dipped dramatically of late Those players are needed to get the best out of Torres Trying to put Crouch in the team just leads to confusion as they players revert to lump the ball tactics forgetting their progression into a passing team
The_Adder Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 -------------Reina------------Finnan-Carra-Agger-Arbeloa----------Mascherano-----------------Gerrard--Alonso-------Benayoun---------------Babel-------------Torres------------ I think when everyone is fit that team would spank most and not allow us to get over run in midfield, which seems to be happening A LOT. Also, looking it at I reckon we need to sign someone in place of Benayoun for that right hand side role, someone like Plastic Ronaldo, that player might be hard to find though obviously...
Guest sniffer Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Team for Sunday against Spurs is... ReinaFinnanCarragherHyppiaRiisePennantGerrardMascheranoAurelioKuytVoronin And it will be a repeat performance of our away games, our game against Brum and Marseilles. Away banker at ladbrokes. Sack Rafa!!
blago Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 my team would be: Reina Finnan Carra Hyypia Arbeloa Pennant Gerrard Mascherano Babel Benayoun Torres
_00_deathscar Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 never really thought highly of Sissoko and Aurelio, so would prefer Riise and Masc in the team instead. Also, Babel on the left instead of Leto. And Kuyt instead of Crouch. It's really gone t*** up - we're clamouring for Riise to start! Snorky - I agree with that on the whole, bar two: Crouch needs dropping, and fast. He's been utter tripe this season, his best a half decent performance against Reading.Sissoko and Gerrard is a recipe for disaster...Mascherano back in.
Rimbeux Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 4-4-2 Finnan right back, Arbeloa left, Pennant right, Babel or Benny left, Kuyt and Torres up front, Masch and Gerrard central. Play football, press them high up the pitch, look to get Kuyt pick up balls behind their midfield, and Babel/Benny also joining in that space. Spurs are very poor here. The defence tend to drop on top of Robinson but the midfield do not follow. There will be opportunity to shoot from distance. I'd ask the wide players and full backs to look for the free men on the edge of the box as well as cross into the heart of the area when they have it. We have to watch their delivery from wide, wide players tracking back, and their strikers dropping off, which Masch should deal with.
Kahnee Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 At the moment I would start with the same team that started against Marseille. Although that will probably change a million times before we kick-off. I think those players would like the chance to prove just how good they really are. Crouch had that chance and pissed it away

_00_deathscar Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Agree with all of that Oh, and Leto of course - he's got a lot to prove, and Spurs isn't the place to do it. Not while we have better options. Shame Garçia had to leave; with Riise offering next to nothing these days, we could have done with him to play either flank.
Flasher Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 my team would be: Reina Finnan Carra Hyypia Arbeloa Pennant Gerrard Mascherano Babel Benayoun Torres Based on what's available, i think that is a very strong team. Hard to choose between Kuyt and Benayoun, but Benayoun just shades it for me in that position. Rush and Dalglish in style, if not ability. More Cole and Beardsley perhaps.
Magic8Ball Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Oh, and Leto of course - he's got a lot to prove, and Spurs isn't the place to do it. Not while we have better options. Flasher Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 we're still missing a "CRonaldo" type player, and a regular match winner - Pick Babel and stick with him. It's the only way he'll become good enough and it's exactly what Fergie ro wenger would do (see Ronaldo, Nani, Fabregas etc)
