He spent most of last season injured, haven't seen much of Hamburg recently to see how he's doing at the minute, was highly talented a few years back but there were links in the summer.

I know we got Agger in January but the decent, in form players don't normally move in the winter. If we haven't got a crisis I'd rather we waited till the summer.

Seeing as Carra and Agger are likely to remain first choice for years to come I'd rather the bulk of our transfer budget be spent on other areas of the team; ideally a top class winger with genuine pace as Kewell continues to get injured.

 

Olof Mellberg is out of contract at the end of the season and won't sign a new one with Villa apparently.

 

I've always considered him a very steady centre-half who would provide a very good option on a free, and at around 30 in his position has quite a few good years left in him yet. He can also fill in at full-back which is a plus.

 

Incidentally I notice Grosso left Inter for Lyon in the summer - disappointed we didn't look at him, he's an absolutely superb attacking left back.
