Definitive image from Istanbul 2005

I've been asked to provide my definitive image from our CL final with AC Milan in Istanbul, 2005. The one that instantly springs to mind is the following....

 

 

I thought I had the hig-res version of this (in fact I'm certain I did) but I can't find it on my pc. Can anyone send it to me or provide me with a link to it? Ta.

 

What are yours? I'll happily put forward a couple of suggestions....

There is one which must be 1 second earlier than that, some of the players have realised it is over and some haven't. My mate has it on his wall, I think he got it from Sportizus. That's mine.

I think that's probably the one I'm on about as well. I've got various shots of the players on half way (Just as Didi has scored and as Riise walks back after missing) but not the two that I was sure I had....

Luis has twigged, as have Sami, Carra, Cisse and Gerrard. Xabi is just getting the message and Smicer, Riise and Traore look clueless (quite appropriate for them really).

Same for me. I remember that being the first photo I saw in some free Turkish paper the next morning.

I remember I was looking at all the pictures in a Turkish paper the following morning and the owner came out and I said 'Just looking' and he gave the paper to me. I've still got it with my little Istanbul memorabilia collection.

I can't find a photo anywhere, but that epic, biblical scene of thousands of us trekking over the moonscape towards the stadium - that's right up there as a defining image.

 

But the very best one for me is undoubtedly the one above.

At 3-2 a camera on the touchline focuses in on the Milan bench, blurred in the background all you can see is madness in red. The camera slowly focussed to the fans, blurring the Milan bench....that was the moment the game was lost

Thanks for that Maldini. Does anyone know who took that pic? I'm fairly sure it's Mike Hewitt but I've searched Getty & Propaganda and can't find that image anywhere.

Another one is a few seconds past that - in the blurred background the players are swamped around Dudek, in the clear foreground, Cisse on his knees, fitsts pumped.

plus one of the dude with a massive grin, getting mobbed by teammates just as carra has skipped past the goalie's outstretched arms. it looked like carra was going to jump on him, but ran past - hence the big grin.

 

also the geezer who sneaked on to the pitch for the team photos

 

finally, the players setting off from the halfway line - mouths gaping, when they realised we had won.

I've got a few during the game - Smicer's face after his goal, Dudek's nod after that save, the sight of Didi on the touchline after halftime, Carra bending over during extr-time checking to see if his knees are still there.

 

I always say ' never say never ' but Istanbul was unique.

it's a strange one, but for me, the dude with the shaved in the crowd at half time lifting his shades off his eyes is an image I will never forget from the final...total dejection and disbelief. Summed up how numb I felt at the time...

I love that shot. Ancelotti is chewing gum more furiously than anyone I've ever seen and the mayhem in the Liverpool crowd behind him gives just a hint of what it was like to be there.
