Just outside in some c**** village called Spencers Wood

ho-de-ho

Fear of the collar - Patrick Touher:

A sad story about an orphan taken into educational care where he was abused. A compelling read although I thought it would be a lot worse than it was. Perhaps because punishment and pleasure blurred as did the characters that dished and received it - although for very different reasons.

The Thunderbolt kid - Bill Bryson:

Hugely enjoyable romp through 50's nostalgia. Too short though.

There's and awful lot of bubbly in brazil - Alan Brazil:

One man and his liver. Lots of anecdotes about Alan Brazil from Alan Brazil's perspective and written by a bitter. Lacks perspective although some enyotable tales. Feels very cliquey though.

We all live in a Perry Groves world- Perry groves.

One of, if not, the most enjoyable sports book i have read. Self efacing, humorous, tight and genuinely ethusiastic, egotistical and modest in equal measure. Great if you want to read a ginger fella rip the piss out of himself

Fatty Batter - Michael Simkin

I initially read the title as fanny batter and upon seeing the picture of a large kid in cricket gear on the front I was intrigued. It's actually about a useless young fat lad discovering cricket. Much like the Perry Groves book review only replace 'Self efacing, humorous, tight and genuinely ethusiastic, egotistical and modest in equal measure. Great if you want to read a ginger fella rip the piss out of himself'...

... with: 'one of the most chucklesome books I've read, and the only humorous book i've read about cricket, yet it's also Self efacing, humorous, tight and genuinely enthusiastic, nostalgic and immodestly wishful in equal measure. Great if you want to read a fat kid rip the piss out of himself'
