I know all the details of the 11th st bar have been posted numerous times. Will be over there for a week in mid September and hoping to catch the Pompey away and (hopefully) first CL group game. Portsmouth away at 7:45 am is on their website as being live.

A question about directions: I will be getting off the PATH train that morning - is the 9th street or 14th street stop nearest? and how long is the walk from there? Is it likely ot full up early ie before 7:30 am?

And a quick Shea stadium question - going to see a Mets game on a Friday night - what time would a 7:10pm game end and is the transport back to the city and out on the Path to Exchange Place safe on my own?

Getting off at 9th and walk - as long as the weather is ok, the walk at that time of the morning is my favorite way of seeing the city. Its a pleasant mile and a half hike. There should be a good crowd there but there is no danger of it being packed to the rafters if you arrive around kick-off - they usually open about 15-20 mins before the game.

As for the glorified rounders. The game can go on for 3 hours or more. 3 and a half is a good bet, but it can go on until after midnight if there are extra innings. As far as safety is concerned, it will be as safe as any other major city. Your train out of Shea will be packed and Exchange Place is a safe station in one of the more pleasant parts of Jersey City.

So a mile and a half walk at 07:30, AFTER my 5 mile session on the treadmill? Hmmmm ;)

Are there any posters off here that you know of go there?

I'm a regular there. I usually get the Subway train (the L) to 14th & 1st & walk from there.

If you do get a cab, get him to drop you on the corner of Ave A & 11th st. The bar is located on the RHS of 11th st as you're going from Ave A to Ave B - closer to Ave A. It has a Guinness sign o/s
