Have a round of applause,lad.

You had Ashley Cole all over the place today, put in several quality crosses that almost led to goals. After a rough start to your Liverpool career, you've consistently improved.I thought you were excellent today.

Cut out the moaning though.

He was right about the challenge when he got booked though. He went in for a high bouncing ball to head it, Cole shat it and went under him rather than challenging with his head. Didn't deserve a booking. Same as Kuyt didn't deserve his.

He's been playing great.

Its an improvement on his previous attitude. Its good to see it all stems from passion on the pitch, but he needs to watch himself. Rafa wont be best pleased with the yellows he's picked up thus far.

Otherwise, yes good performance, lots of good crosses in, held posession well. Still needs to add a threat of shooting - couple of situations I wouldnt've minded him having a go in.

Unlucky to be taken off. Thought Riise should have been changed.

He's always subbed about 65-70 minutes in.

Doesn't matter if he was right about the challenge, throwing his toys out of the pram when decisions go against him makes him a liability IMO.

If he challenged that aggression into his game he could be a great player for us.

Noticed in todays game and during his little episode in the Villa game, that Carra was on the scene quickly to get him away and give him a b******ing.

Its not something I noticed when he was playing s***e - seems to have started since he established himself. Needs sorting out.

Didn't really think he threw his toys out of the pram. The ref got it completely wrong. When you're playing a massive game and your adrenalin is pumping, you don't skulk away from things like that. He was physically strong out there today and the ref wasn't in tune with the match at all.

Aw f*** off. Gerrad was complaining loads today, so does Carra. No harm letting giving a ref loads, most of them deserve it.

yet another wrong? oh yeah, had forgotten about that one. The booking of Kuyt was absurd too, after maybe 3 absolutely nothing fouls.

I don't even remember Kuyt conceding any fouls before his booking. Styles pointed towards Essien's position when he carded Kuyt, as if to say that he had already committed a niggly foul and deserved the booking for persistent fouling, but as I said in another thread, all Kuyt was guilty of was persistent tackling and harrying of the opposition. Styles is a f***ing t***.

Pennant was excellent today. Don't quite understand why Keys didn't ask SCS about him, it was the obvious question (well apart from the obligatory Stevie G in the centre BS they have to talk about). Think one of the commentators mentioned it.

personally i think pennant flatters to deceive. he can do great crosses - but not consistently he frequently misses his man with a pull back when we get behind the oppo too. happened at a key time today when torres was free on the pen spot and could easily have been two nil.

to confirm, i don't think he's crap, but i think we can do and need better. i do think he's a prick though.

Yeah, that pass was fecking frustrating. Good movement from Torres and he just needed it rolled to him.

did well today

needs to cut out that petulant s*** though.

It was a fair challenge and he took the ball though so fair play for showing some fight and not putting up with Styles s***e.

inconsistent delivery, but there was enough of it for him to have a good game for me. When there's players around him, his linkup play is outstanding.

Ironic as Carra was booked for dissent in the game as well

Pennant was MOM for me

I think he's a decent player, but not someone who is good enough for the long term. His crossing is too inconsistent and he provides no goal-scoring threat whatsoever.

Clearly a second choice player who fitted the price bracket we were shopping in.

Just to stress, I think he's a decent player. I don't think he's rubbish. I simply think we can do better and should be looking to improve our options in that position. I really don't think Pennant is the long-term solution.

he played very well today, put in some good balls into the box, working hard on defence...

should have stayed for 90 minutes.

it was amazing that carra restrained himself from t***ing the bent ref

Its different with Pennant though, its the jumping up quick to push and shove and act the hard man that he does when he is obviously a little puff thats annoying. Just be a tricky winger, get booted, win free kicks and get on with it. Wright-Phillips attitude is 1000% better.

i thought pennant was really causing problems down the right. a shame about some of his distribution, but he's a marked improvement on the player we had for the first half of last season. there's still room for improvement, but he's heading in the right direction.

didn't mind him getting so het up today with the ref. the booking didn't diminish his performance afterwards, though it might've influenced Rafa's choice of substitution.
