I just see no reason not to. Reviewing that today would have negetated the penalty and would have got a booking for that diving c*nt Malouda. Supposedly there was a game changing decision in the Fulham game too.

Just have it for penalty decisions and goal-line decisions.

Yes! getting ridiculous now, the games are so important, the players give so much, and everything is spoilt by a bent? referee!!!

I don't necessarily see it as " Refs are s**t, we need video evidence " but the game is quicker than it has ever been and they need help.

I think video evidence would see a decline in criticism of refs. Cricket uses them, Tennis uses them, Rugby uses them. Football is richer than any of those sports and yet it is lagging behind. It would probably take the same amount of time for the ref to check the video as it does for him to quiten an angry mob of players and restart the match.

The Fulham ' goal ' yesterday could be the differnce between them staying up or being relegated.

However, i think that video evidence for things like todays penalty will never happen as it was interpretation. One almighty f**k up that would have happened even if we were using video evidence in football.

problem with video reviews over penalty decisions, is that it's still a matter of opinion. It's not as clear cut as 'has the whole ball crossed the goal line'?. We don't want the game stopped each time people go over in the box, or the ball appears to hit an arm as it really would make the game too stop-start.

i've long wanted video replays to be available but i wouldn't have it for today's decision.

Just goal line decisions and whether or not a foul was comitted inside or outside the area.

An alternative would be to do something like the tennis - and allow each manager 3 challenges to a referee's decision per match to be reviewed by TV

I agree with everything but the last line. Then you'll have tables for correct challenges and Sky spewing out stats for respective captains / managers appeals.

Goal line decisions only or allow refs to ask for help on close call corners, penalties etc. Any decision where the video ref can say whether a ball has crossed a line or not

I think something similar to the situation in the NFL where theres a red flag could be interesting.

Each manager would have one red flag, or challenge alotted per game, if the call gets reversed, he gets the flag back. You can use it whenever you want.

Its sure to cause some debate but I think its a decent system, and with just 1 per game each (and presumably most games there wont really be a challenge), it wont delay the game too much. That is of crucial importance. What makes football so great to watch is that its non stop end to end stuff and delaying the game through replays etc would detract from that.

I like the sound of that.

It should be used routinely for matters of fact like has the ball crossed the line.

It should also be used for instances where the referee has made a decision. For example with today, Styles blows for a penalty, stopping the game so nobody is about to lose out on possession etc. The incident is immediately reviewed by the 4th official who tells Styles that he's a blind dozy useless c***.

Yup, if the ref blows and the game is stopped, why not just check with the fourth official? You can always stop the clock/ add injury time minutes.

That might work in a game which already stops and starts and takes 3 f***ing hours to play.

Christ- can you imagine Ginsoak and Maureen with a red get out of jail flag.

How many 4th officals are going to overrule what is essentially a judgment call (no matter how bad it is?) and how many of the arrogant pricks currently reffing would change their mind about a decision after having made it?

Surely that's the point of introducing it? It's worked at Wimbledon this year...why not football?

Why would 2 challenges in a game delay it that much?

It can take an eternity sometimes (at least long enought to upset the flow of the game) to look at a contentious decision and in the game) to look at a contentious decision and in that respect is open to abuse.

Then you:d have the endless caterwauling and bullying from the usual suspects when decisions do not go their way.

f*** this f***ing japanese keyboard with its bizarre buttons- its got a mind of with its bizarre buttons- its got a mind of its own.

The fact of the matter is that they are an important part of most games around the world - because you want the players to decide the game, not the refs.

They use it in tennis to debate a point, they use it in cricket for wickets, they use it in the NFL for points. In football, EVERYTHING can be decided by 1 kick. A whole game, 3 pts and maybe even the final position you finish in. There is so much riding on a goal - and I think this is why we love the game so much. The ability to get genuinely excited when someone scores a goal, as opposed to meaningless 3 pt basket in basketball.

The scarcity of goals makes them hugely important, and the players should be responsible for scoring them, not the refs. Technology is a MUST, because it is available and can ensure that the CORRECT result is achieved.

They'd have to be a man about it. It would be better for him to say that it looked different on tape and he wasn't properly sighted when the incident happened.

It's a lot more honourable than lying about a booking...
