johngibo YPC Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I can't really understand why Martin Jol gets so much respect in the media and Rafa gets criticised. If you look at what they have achieved at their current clubs and their previous clubs it doesn't make senseCan someone explain it to me please? The only thing i can think of is that the papers love Jol because he buys lots of English players
Maldini Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 They can predict what Jol is going to do, Rafa makes them look stupid.
Benitez Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 does Jol get that much respect now? I think people have cottoned onto the fact he isn't all that.
_00_deathscar Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 who praises Jol while criticising Rafa? The media. Do keep up....
Snoeker Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 who praises Jol while criticising Rafa? Scans very nicely with Verdi's Anvil Chorus.
charlie clown Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 (edited) who praises Jol while criticising Rafa? people. you know. like, bad people. can't believe you didn't know that. Edited August 16, 2007 by charlie clown
honourablegeorge Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 The media LOVE Spurs almost as much as West Ham. Interesting piece here, though - seems Jol's under a little bit of pressure. http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/pr...icle2866834.ece
floyd Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Bar, Brian Reade, Henry Winter & James Lawton, most of the press are to55ers
Hassony Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Bar, Brian Reade, Henry Winter & James Lawton, most of the press are to55ers does that include Kahnee?
IgPig Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Jol is affable and quotable. Rafa gives 'em nowt.
Hassony Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 martin jol has brothers called c**k and dick. and a sister called pussy
Cobs Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 martin jol has brothers called c**k and dick.and a younger hip brother called Itslikedat
honourablegeorge Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Jol is affable and quotable. Rafa gives 'em nowt. I was under the impression that Rafa was well liked, presswise. That one where he was joking about the cricket, etc.
fyds Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Scans very nicely with Verdi's Anvil Chorus.Only if you miss two beats and a bar! The media criticize Rafa and his rotation/zonal marking/untested signings etc, because he's spanish and the manager of a club that is THE now rousing giant of English football and not based in London or run by a pissed scot. They are generally more praiseworthy of Jol because if they were not, he would rip off thier arms and suck the jelly from their eyes. They do wonder why he hasn't signed Heskey yet though.
New York Red Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I thought Jol was really good. Not better than Rafa, but good. I may be very wrong about that.
fyds Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I thought Jol was really good. Not better than Rafa, but good. I may be very wrong about that. He's better than any English manager I can think of - which is the epitomy of damning with faint praise.
Knox_Harrington Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 He's better than any English manager I can think of - which is the epitomy of damning with faint praise.I'd have Allardyce ahead of Jol. I'd rather go for a pint with the latter though.
Hassony Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 he is destined to take over from van basten as the dutch national coach next summer so this is likely to be his last season with spurs anyway
Hassony Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I'd have Allardyce ahead of Jol. I'd rather go for a pint with the latter though. Jol's got the best accent in the world
Guest Linton Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I'd have Allardyce ahead of Jol. I'd rather go for a pint with the latter though. Allardcyce's football is painfully boring. Jol's isn't. And he has been good for Spurs. I agree with the beer though.
Sion Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 He's an average to poor manager. He has little say in transfers as Spurs are run in a typical European style with a sporting director (Damien Commoli) running things behind the scene mean Jol is more of a head coach than a manager in the English sense of the word. If we had someone over Rafa like Comolli is at Spurs, I think Rafa would quit, or at least be very pissed off. Spurs have spent the biggest amount behind Chelsea since Jol's been in charge, getting them successive 5th places is hardly an achievement, especially when you compare the relative success Moyes has has at Everton with tight a*** Kenwright in charge.
