Maybe Rafa was saving him for Toulouse but I was surprised not to see him on the bench. He didn't seem to feature much in the pre-season games either.

Someone is going to miss out. We have a lot of players and it's tough to make the squad even. Thinikng that the four subs will usually be a defender, a midfielder and two attacking players, there's generally only room for 3 of the 5 central midfielders in the matchday squad. I think Babel will make most of the squads because he can play so many positions, whereas Crouch has just one. Voronin is one who can play wide/deep, as can Kuyt and Torres.

Are they f*** - under Sky rules, players are never rested, they are dropped. We're talking about the channel who were banging on about the three teams in the "drop zone" yesterday evening FFS. Drama over factual content every time

One of the Setanta commentators said during the Villa game that you could argue that Rafa had already started his rotation policy by not including Crouch or Mascherano in the squad.

It's great to finally be able to leave such good players at home. It shows how much effort the players in the first 11 have put in and hopefully carry into the game too. Crouch will play mid week I'd guess.

I think he'll start vs chelsea. They couldn't handle him and Kuyt earlier this year at anfield.

We had two challenging games during pre-season in Portsmouth and Feyenoord and I don't think he featured in either.

He has a good game every now and again but overall just frustrates the f**k outa me, never has and never will be good enough IMO
