Kahnee Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Can't find the story on Sky's site, but am sure they had a story on SSN last night about Mellberg saying he wasn't afraid of facing Torres as he wasn't all that (or similar) Pretty sure I didnt dream it
McBain Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Keep on talking Olaf. Stoke up the lads as much as you can Be great if MON came out and said we were shoyte
JohnnyH Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Yeah. He referred to a recent international when he faced Spain and he said Torres did absolutely nothing and so he didn't fear him on Saturday. Get it up on the wall Rafa (although you'd better translate it first)
Kahnee Posted August 8, 2007 Author Posted August 8, 2007 Yeah. He referred to a recent international when he faced Spain and he said Torres did absolutely nothing and so he didn't fear him on Saturday. Excellent stuff - hat-trick for Fernando
Barnesy_10 Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Mark Bright was on the radio the other day saying Torres will be a flop and Darren Bent is going to be a better striker.
Stevie H Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Mark Bright was on the radio the other day saying Torres will be a flop and Darren Bent is going to be a better striker.mark bright is darren bent's godfather.
JohnnyH Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Mark Bright was on the radio the other day saying Torres will be a flop and Darren Bent is going to be a better striker. To be fair, he'd know a s**** striker when he sees him. I've always found Mark Bright to be bordering on racist with his views on players. Every black player is great and most white players are s**** according to him.
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 (edited) Who cares what anyone thinks. As long as the fans give him time and don't get on his back, he'll be fine. Now get that f***ing hattrick on saturday, the Swedish c***! Edited August 8, 2007 by RedIsMyColour
TheLa Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 (edited) You sure it wasn't Laursen? He's in the Mirror today talking some boll*cks along the lines of "You don't scare me, Torres, with your boyish good looks and your girly blonde locks. I can fight you!" Something like that anyway. Red2Core Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Aston Villa defender Olof Mellberg has vowed to ruin Fernando Torres' Premiership debut after admitting the new Liverpool striker made little impression on him the last time they met. Spanish star Torres, 23, is primed to spearhead the Reds attack in Saturday's televised opener at Villa Park. But Mellberg believes he can get the better of the £26.5million signing after successfully snuffing out Torres last October in Sweden's 2-0 Euro 2008 qualifier win over Spain in Stockholm. "I have seen Torres a little bit, mainly when he has played for Spain," said Mellberg. "I marked him not long ago when we played Spain and won. Advertisement"I don't remember too much of him in particular from that game, so it will be interesting to see how he does in the Premiership. "Liverpool have a really strong squad, so we won't focus on any one player when we play them. But we believe we can get a good result."

Tobes Rafa Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Mark Bright was on the radio the other day saying Torres will be a flop and Darren Bent is going to be a better striker. I heard the same show and would loved to have t****** him. He said he thought Torres would be a flop as he is too lightweight and easily pushed off the ball - also went on to say that he will never get 20 goals in the PL and that Darren Bent would score more. When the Liverpool fan to whom he was talking said that he thought we would finish ahead of Manu, Bright laughed and said that they have bought great players in Nani and Anderson. The Liverpool fan questioned him by saying they are unproven and they might also struggle and his argument was that they were young, fit and "eager". I mean, WTF. Does Torres not fit into that bracket too? A muppet of the highest order!

AE Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 What headline? Ok the top of the story them.****ing journo's
Stevie H Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 that £26.5m figure seems to be sticking in the media doesn't it?
Guest Portly Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I'm deeply sceptical about strikers with hairbands. Look at the scoring record of Aston Villa and Man City last season.

floyd Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 mark bright is bentSo the rumour that has been around for years is true.
Leo No.8 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Bright is one of a select band of experts I really listen to, along with Charlie Nicholas and Paul Merson. Listen very carefully to what they've got to say, because it's uncanny just how often the complete opposite of what they say actually happens. For example, in him saying Torres is easily pushed off the ball - that's brilliant work because he's actually strong as an ox. I'd say Bright has just sent Torres rocketing into the top scorer charts come the end of the season.
honourablegeorge Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 There was a wee cameo in the Feuyenoord match of Torres' stength at one point, can't remember who, but he shrugged off a defender with real ease. Was encouraging to see it. He's no skinny kid, Torres.
honourablegeorge Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I'm deeply sceptical about strikers with hairbands. Look at the scoring record of Aston Villa and Man City last season. Benayoun, Leto, Torres, and Lucas all wear them. It's a lot of hairbands to integrate into the team in one summer.
