Leto still doesn't have a squad number and still isn't on the squad list at all.

Neither is Gonzalez. Is he definitely gone?

When will Leto be officially on the team?

How much did we get Dude?

£4.5mill

Has Leto played at all? Has he practiced?

Don't think he's played. As far as I know he's been working with the reserves (didn't go to Hong Kong). I imagine Rafa would be a bit pissed if Leto hadn't been practicing.

The Gonzalez move has not been officially confirmed yet has it?

Real Betis

On May 24, 2007, Rafael Benitez confirmed that Liverpool had almost reached an agreement with Real Betis over the Chilean winger. On June 12 Mark Gonzalez confirmed he has signed a contract with Real Betis. However, the Chilean footballer also confirmed that there was a clause within the contract that would mean he wouldn't sign for Betis if they were to be relegated. Real Betis presented the player to the press and fans on July 17, 2007.

Well I'm not digging back thro the Marca & AS archives for you, read it on there myself when he was presented. Used Wiki as it spelt out the timeline for you. Offal aint the oracle either they still list Flo and he signed for Recre on 4th May 2007.

wasn't having a go, just that Wiki is notoriously unreliable.

the fact he's on the Betis site seals it.

strange nothing has been mentioned on the offal.

Funny to think back to this time last season and how everyone was putting 'speedy' in their best LFC first 11s. Who would have dreamed that in a season largely without Kewell and Garcia, that 'Speedy' would be seen off by the mighty talent of Bolo Zenden.

As for Leto - wouldn't it be just crazy if he turned out to be good. Stranger things have happened. I like his tallness and his hair. They augur well, in a, I must stress, non-gaylordy kinda way.

From what I've seen there look to be some similarities in his look and style of play to Berger, who I always liked.

But I haven't seen enough of Leto to judge how much potential he's got. Would be interested to see what Tim Vickery had to say on him, he's a member of that tiny minority group - a good football journalist who is often right.

Edit: found something from Vickery on him here which does seem to confirm he's got a touch of the Bergers about him:

Less of a winger, Sebastian Leto is more of a left-sided midfielder, with a booming left foot.

He's tall with touches of class, but if you're looking for a promising player from Argentina to play that position in the Premiership then he wouldn't be my choice - the dynamism of Velez Sarsfield's Damian Escudero makes him my pick.

Paddy B was one of my all time favourites. A really good player. Hugely underrated.

Not Will, thats for sure, who actually said on here that Gonzalez wouldnt be moved on in the summer, because if rafa did that then he would be a "Kneejerk Twot"

I think that's actually one of Rafa's strengths, in that if he does get it wrong he learns from his mistakes, and if he buys someone who isn't settling or doing the business he'll ship them on. Gonzalez, Morientes, Josemi, Bellamy, Nunez (I'm not going to include Kromkamp as I'm sure he was bought/swapped as he was more 'sellable' than Josemi).

All of them had one season, didn't cut the mustard so got shipped out.

agree. as opposed to cissé, diouf, diao, cheyrou etc hanging around and stinking the place out. le tallec seems to be the sole exception but he's obviously been deemed captain pariah.
