apparanlt Platini wants to change the qulifying Criteria for the Champions league the top 3 in England, spian and Italy will qualify automatically as will the top 2 in france, Germany and Portugal. Then the champions from the countries ranked 7 to 12 will all qualify automatically. The rest of the places will be done through qualifying with 6 places going to the champions of the smaller countires and 4 places going to to the cup holders from the top 16 ranked countries.

 

Anyway if this goes through, it would make it nearly impossible for a club like Spurs getting to the CL(unless they win the cup) a top 4 finish for them could be a possibility, but it will be near on impossible for anyone else to break into the top 3. It would also be interesting to see what would happen to one of the top 4 if they fail to make it into the CL for a season or 2.

I doubt the G14 will be happy with this, Platini is just following on with this as it was the reason he was voted in by the smaller countries

I don't think it would change much. The FA Cup winner normally comes from the top 3 so presumable the 4th league side would get that place anyway.

Absolute b******s having cup winners in the CL. That will devaluate the waffa-cup further and get clubs who do not deserve it into the CL

they also need to drop the CL safety net into the UEFA too.

 

If they did this, I actually think the teams would vary more. If for example Arsenal are 4th, they would miss CL right? That would mean that we would either have the 'big 4' or the big 5 competing for 2 CL spots and the teams rotating regular.
