BG Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Garcia's signing is all over the internet, except on the Offal. A bit of news and a few clips of his greatest moments wouldn't go amiss...

Armin_Tamzarian Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 They have to wait till it's officially confirmed by LFC. Other outlets can afford to publish quicker on the basis of sources etc. If they screw up no-one cares, if LFC's own website announced the sale of one of it's players that subsequently fell through at the eleventh hour it would be highly embarassing.
IgPig Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Given he's been paraded in a pc at Athletico, I don't think they'd look that daft; nor is there much chance its not done.

He's been paraded around in an A.Madrid shirt signing autographs, there's no chance of it falling through. I can only think they're waiting to announce the Torres and Garcia signings simultaneously.

"It was a difficult decision because it hurts to be leaving one of the most important clubs in the world, and a club with one of the best sets of fans. "I have enjoyed three great years there. There are several different reasons and the decision took a lot of thought, but Liverpool will always be with me because they always treated me very well. "I have been lucky to win things there, but I did not want to let the opportunity pass to win trophies in Spain."
Sion Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 We should announce a transfer now! or our fans might protest outside the ground tonight at Luis's sale

Found this earlier on Teamtalk Luis Garcia admitted the lure of returning to Atletico Madrid was too strong to resist after rejoining his former club from Liverpool.Garcia, who spent the 2002-2003 season at the Vicente Calderon, signed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee with the Primera Liga side. While conceding it was hard to leave Anfield, the Spain international revealed he could not turn down a move home. He said: "It was a personal decision. "Liverpool are one of the best clubs in the world. I spent three great years at Liverpool but it was time to consider my future. "I could have stayed or I could return to Spain. I have made a decision which I believe is the right one. "I simply couldn't reject the offer when given the opportunity to return to Atletico. "Liverpool has been very important in my career and I will never forget my time there. "Their fans are amazing, they supported me since my arrival, in good and bad times. I tried to do the best I could to repay their trust but nothing I can do can ever repay their unconditional support." The 29-year-old is one of five acquisitions made by Atletico this summer along with Diego Forlan, Christian Abbiati, Raul Garcia and Cleber Santana. An he believes the capital outfit, who finished seventh in the 2006-07 season, will be a force to be reckoned with next term. "I aim for titles next season," he said. "We have a great team and I think if the team continues to work in the same manner as they did last season, I see no reason why we cannot take the club to the position where it belongs."

Clearly never went on the web forums or listened to the Main Stand Miserabilists then. tbh I loved the fact that he was so infuriating, those crucial and signifcant flashes of genius were always a real 2 fingers up to those that always find it easier to have a moan at anyone who isn't 100% perfect. Good luck, Luis, and thanks for everything
Ronnie Whelan Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I know its for the greater good but I will always fondly remember Luis Garcia and only hope that he does get to step onto the Anfield turf again to receive the ovation he truly deserves. Thanks for everything Luis, YNWA.

Thanks for everything Luis, YNWA. Not sure it is for the 'greater good'. I think the only reason he's gone is because he wanted to and his contract was soon to expire. I don't think Rafa would have sold him if he could have kept him here.
IgPig Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Loved his home debut (West Brom was it?) and remember thinking we had a real player on our hands. Wasn't always at that level, but gave us some very good times.
RP Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Sorry to see him go, he's a very good player. And seemed like a top bloke that night we met him after the first time we dumped Chelsea out of the European Cup. Hope he achieves the success he deserves.
