Molby Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Kuyt needs them badly it would allow him to channel his runs far more in to scoring positions and less in to, well..the channels - result: 20 PL goals plus for our Dirk get my drift?
Guest Prongsy Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Dirk playing upfront instead of withdraw = lots more goals.Dirk being more used to the league now = lots more goals.Dirk playing with mancini/simao/malouda = lots more goals.Dirk playing with runner/provider player = well, you get hte drift. To sum it up, I expect dirky to be scoring more next year

To sum it up, I expect dirky to be scoring more next year all true; the angle I was coming from was how his goal tally should improve if we sign Torres or Heskey of 7 years ago, as opposed to someone like Eto or Owen not that Torres is Heskey but he has that tendency to work the channels and hold up the ball and I think some of this pressure needs to be taken off Kuyt
Maldini Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 There are a lot of fickle idiots on this board, Kuyt is class.
L19red Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Kuyt will score more if he gets in the box more. The evidence is there is you look at Crouch. In his first season he got tons of praise for holding the ball up well and linking the play, but took ages to get off the mark and didn't score nearly enough because he played too deep. In his second season he got into the box more, got on the end of more and scored more. If dirk is told to play in the box more instead of charging about in front of the back 4 then he'll score more goals.
Fagan Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 the thing i love about kuyt is that he didnt have an amazing season yet he still managed to score as many as berbatov and keane at spurs who have been hailed as a massive success. i think dirk's gonna have a big season this year, hes adapted, will get better service and rafa will know how to get the best out of him having seen him play in his system fopr a year.

I agree, spot on. 15 goals at Liverpool is a failure where as 13 at spurs is amazing. Fickle.
_00_deathscar Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 So we can now confirm that Torres is to be branded the new Heskey?
Molby Posted June 22, 2007 Author Posted June 22, 2007 So we can now confirm that Torres is to be branded the new Heskey? no Torres is the 'new composite but slightly diluted Heskey-type of 2001 (in some respects, particularly channels and hold up) whilst adding a certain amount of extra flair and extravagance of his own' there, that scans nicely also - Kuyt gets in to the box=scores more that's correct. brilliant observation all - Torres arrives = Kuyt can get in to the box more
Fagan Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 i really hope torres isnt as weak as heskey. ive never seen such a big man hit the deck so many times
