Gillette and hicks the most important since Shanks?

Let me explain just what i mean when i say Gillette and Hicks is the best and most imortant thing to happen to this club since Shanks.

Shanks built us,and brought us into the goalden era.It was the foundations he had laid that we had unrivaled success through the 60s,70s and 80s.

Yes Paisley,Fagan and Dalglish were excellent in what they did but the ball was already rolling and all they needed to do pass on the batton.

But since then, those foundations thats Shanks had laid have been slowly crumbling, although we have had a bit of success in the 90s and more so in recent years,it hasn't been the bread and butter trophy,ie the league title.

Thats what we have been brought up on,and thats what we will be judged on.

Now it's crunch time.We have to spend, and spend right. These guys are the ones that are gonna take us forward and it's what they do now in terms of the stadium and getting the right players in,that will underpin,if you like the crumbling foundations that Shanks had laid 40 odd years ago.

Like it or not, these guys are here to stay, and imo, thats why they are the best and most important thing to happen to this club since Shanks.

They have the resources that will take us to the next level.

By the way, does anyone else see it as a coincidence that our league domination ended almost as soon as the backpass rule changed?

A lot of people who support another North West club who play in red comment on this fairly frequently.

Na,you got me wrong.

"we got the best midfield in the world,

with xabi alonso,

momo sissoko,

gerrard and mascheranoooo!"

I'm liverpool through and through since 1979.

idiots aren't they. If it was the backpass rule that made us win everything then why the f*** didn't all the other teams copy the tactic and win league championships ?

Our dominance came to an end for 2 main reasons.

1)Kenny couldn't carry on at the very time when we needed a longer term strategy to rebuild the team. We lost continuity.

2) Man U embarked on a period of spending big, season after season they brought a lot of quality in. They outspent us year after year and in the end it paid off.

I must of got the wrong end of the stick.

1st reply to my post was to doubt me as a liverpool supporter, than your post to call me an idiot.

Or was you not refering to me?

Anyway, it's a valid point and one that i would like to discuss since i remember the way we killed games off leading 1-0 with 10 mins to go and just passing the ball around our back 4 and keeper.

Maybe my post should of been 2 different posts.

sensitive pr*ck

I'll certainly be looking out for your words of wisdom in the future! :bleh:

You'd think someone else might have figured out how to do that.

I'm as much manc as you are.

I think you must have a soft spot for those down the m62.

My main memories are from the 80s onwards. My earliest memory of being a liverpool supporter was Heysel.I was around 10 years old.I can never forget feeling so empty as the game was being played. We lost that day,and it really didn't matter because of what had gone on before.

That will reamain with me forever.Platini's celebration will always be in my mind.

Jessie, don't think you're going to get away with any derogatory Hillsborough references because if you try it, I will personally find where you live and come and kick your lungs out.

Omg,you guys really do have issues. What do people generally do when they come here, perform some kind of initiation ceromony?

I really couldn't give a damn!

You obviosly don't like to be challenged with questions that may upset apple cart.

Even if i was a supporter of another team,of which i'm not,why can't you have a discussion with someone without insults and name calling.?

How comes no-one has commeneted on the main post?

I really wish i didn't add that bit on the bottom of my first ever post on this site as really can see how it looks.

Maybe i should of got to know you all a little better before asking that question.

I can't ban him sadly, so I've suspended him for 30 years

With good behaviour though, he might only do fifteen.

I'd like to think I'd be to busy driving my hovercar and flying around in my jetpack to spend most of the day on this forum, but somehow I doubt it.
