Closest thing to this close season I can remember, is the three days around when Stevie nearly left. I was actually looking forward to close season and reading all the b******s that would inevitably happen, just for a laugh. Its coming in such quantity though that its like being told your ex girlfriend is pregnant one minute and you've won the lottery the next minute. Hard not to be affected by it.

Bascombe isn't helping - one minute Hick and Gillette are the best thing to happen to the club since Shanks and the next minute they are money grabbing, business assassins who are only interested in making a fast buck.

It looks like its time to switch off the interweb, stop buying papers and go on a bender until mid August.

The close season is only just over a week old. Don't forget we've already sorted with Voronin and the two Hungarian players. Rafa's been on a well deserved break with his family.

Be patient and remember that after tock comes tick ;)

We've also not signed El Hadji Diouf, so it can't be all bad.

eric, what are your feelings on him?

Indeed. It's only the start of June. There's been very little noise. We've signed Lucas and there will undiubtedly be more to follow. The European season isn't even properly finished yet. Still internationals and games to be played in Spain.

We only played in The European Cup final a week and a half ago - how much do you expect to have happened already? For f*ck's sake It's only just about classed as the 'close season'.

I mean did we really need you to post this; was it worth it's own thread 'isn't life terrible it's June and we haven't signed anyone' - you're just another of these clowns who seem to be popping up everywhere, running round the forum screaming 'CRISIS' at the top of their voices, starting threads about how terrible it all is when in actual fact nothing at all has happened either way yet. The dust is still settling from the season that has just finished.

So what Bascombe is writing to say he's worried, big deal they probably aren't letting him in on things that are going on behind the scenes and he's got a titty lip on. So a load of tabloids are writing wildly speculative articles about transfer funds etc? It's 99.9% b*llocks, you could make up better yourself. The simple facts are that Rafa has a list of targets and we'll find out if he gets them in the weeks and months to come - we might have Eto'o, Alves and Quaresma or whoever in tha bag by the end of next week for all we know.

If you can't ignore all the crap that speculative writers who haven't got a f*cking clue what's really going on behind the scenes are feeding you, then my advice would be to find a cave somewhere and hibernate until August. They make it all up, it's guesswork and our transfer budget could be anything from a tenner to two hundred million for all anyone outside the upper echelons of the club itself knows.

If you're at all capable of it then just man up, stop crying about absolutely nothing and see how things develop over the next few weeks. All things considered that would probably be better. If Rafa fails to get all his transfer targets then leaves and the new owners announce they are liquidising the club then go for your life, but until then as I said on another thread get a f*cking grip for God's sake.

I agree totally. You took my post totally out of context.

My point is on all the LFC forums there are loads of folks jumping to extreme conclusions, based on masses of bulls*** being propagated by each forums rashids and each papers Bacombe.

On the other side of the coin is the people wrongly jumping to conclusions about all sorts of things other people have posted.

Our season finished a week and half since. We have already signed the Brazilan player of the year and a great prospect in Lucas.

We have signed 2 very highly rated youngsters in the Hungarian duo.

Other then the mancs who have Chelsea and Arsenal signed. Chelsea have signed 2 free transfers and neither of them are extactly world beaters.

For me its pretty obvious that our main targets are from La Liga and therefore their season is still ongoing. Im pretty certain plenty will happen soon.

Ive got to be honest i would like us to sign a top name. It would give the fans a boost after the Champs lge final but c'mon check the date, its the 2nd of June not the 2nd of August.

I think quite a lot of people are adopting the Chelsea fan syndrome which is they expect us to go on a spending spree and be signing a new player on a daily basis. Thats not gonna happen but a bit of patience and all will be revealed.

Worst close season ever lol. You werent around much in the Souness era then.

Yeah I was around in the Souness era.

Just to underline again, my OP was about fans talking bulls*** and overreacting. It wasn't about the business the club has or hasn't done.

Folks seem to be reading the thread title and jumping to their own conclusions about what they expect the thread to be about.

Excellent use of the phrase.

Why would being told your ex-girlfriend was pregnant be a massive blow? Are you the father or something?

Promise of loads of money, life changing, and the next day half of it's gone and you're left with summat you don't want but have the responsibility of supporting financially and emotionally?

Only if he was the father though. That's what I want clarification on. Does he or doesn't he have paternity?

 your original post went way over my still half pissed, hungover head.

Maybe I'm the father? Getting worried now :(

Looking at Rafa's track record the majority of his signings come from La Liga, Fact.

The majority of posters on here would like to see us sign Alves and Eto'o who both play for sides challenging for the title in Spain, who's to say we havent already agreed deals in principal with the clubs, but cannot announce anything as you could imagine the fans reaction if they knew one of their most important players was leaving before the season has finished, the players whould have the fans getting on their backs and the fans doubting their comitment to the cause in the last couple of games.

Its not time to panic, if we get to the first game in the premiership and the problem positions arent sorted out then people will have a right to moan, but for now put some trust in Rafa and the board.
