I don't think we would have lost to them, on the contrary I think we'd have really done them in big. We're better than they are and as far as english clubs (and all others besides Milan and Madrid for that matter) the CL is OUR competition to lose and not theirs to win.

If you knock of the 8 points we threw away at the end of the season saving the players - it's down to 13points - if you then by that little twist of fate reverse the points for the game at Anfield in which he pumelled them and they fluked a result - it's down to eight. Disregarding any other results over the season, this shows the 'gap' is in many ways not so large as it first looks, and is basically down to our difficult start of new players and crappy fixtures.

Never thought of it quite like that thanks for the positive spin but they still beat us. IF we had started well and IF gerrard would've scored his chance when he tried to pass it into the net instead of blast it on wednesday, we might be saying 19-6 instead 18-5, but thats football innit?

I think the original poster's point was there would have been even more hassle had we played the mancs. I said before the semis there'd be major trouble if it was us and them, having been over there and seen the sham organisation I'm sure there would have been deaths.

The only thing I would say is that if we drew the mancs, both sets of fans I think would have been more hesitant about travelling, knowin the trouble that'd be over there. I wouldnt have went anyway...and I'm rock I am
