I dont care what anybody says I was proud of my team today. I thought they played their hearts out. It was a final against one of the best teams in the world. the team that mad manu look like a second rate team. We made them look ordinary. Yes we could not finish off the game but we all no that we are lacking a good goal scorer. I am looking forward to our next european final and less face it with Raffa you know it is only around the corner. so as I say hard luck boys you did us proud you have nothing to be ashamed off.

AC Milan are Champions, They needed to bury some ghosts today and they did...

But let me get one thing straight, What a f***ing performance from our lads, I cannot have one bad word said about them the effort they put in was incredible and I am so proud and honoured to be a Liverpool fan tonight...Despite the result.

People said they would tear us apart, and they did anything but, and I think we have came out of this final with the respect of the world, it takes alot of honour, talent and courage to win a final, but to lose it and still show some dignity in defeat, Is priceless and is what Liverpool is all about. None of this "The Better Team Lost" bulls*** or "They shouldn't be in the cup anyway"

Gutted? Maybe

Sad? Possibly

Proud...Imensely

Agree with you both 100%. The first feeling was emptiness, followed by a pride that can't be taken away from me. There's absolutely no reason to be bitter or angry.

The performance and the reaction at the end has made the defeat a lot easier to take.

We bossed it, simple as. Just lacked in the final third which needs addressing. Can't fault anyone for effort.

What made me most proud was our reaction after the game. Hearing the interviews with Carra, Stevie and Kuyt who all showed true dignity in defeat (unlike that tw*t Henry last year) to the backdrop of our fans absolutley drowning out the Milan fans with a rendition of YNWA.

Then our players, manager and co-owners shaking the hands of all the Milan players before collecting the medals and staying out on the pitch to applaud the fans.

Totally agree - we played well tonight without winning the gme!!

There's always next year!!

Don't lose heart, we're Liverpool F.C. YNWA - we'll rule Europe again for the next 20 years!!!!

Completly gutted and feel a bit robbed just like I imagine Milan fans felt 2 years ago.

Would love to meet the ref down a dark alley with a kosh but other than that our boys did well and sometimes I guess that's football.

In Istanbul at half time when loosing three nil I turned to the people around me and said, "I don't know why, but I'm looking up and the scoreboard says were 3-0 down. But evey time I close my eyes all I can see is Liverpool players running around with the cup".

For the last week I've had a bad feeling about this result. I never really envisioned us with the cup and when the match started I thought I was wrong. We outplayed them all night and still lost.

Looking on the bright side, New Stadium, New Investment, and by the begining of next summer Rafa will have a squad that is 100% his own. Gone will be the remnants of the squad he inherited and no longer needs, gone will be the players he picked up cheap in the sales. And in will be some world class goal scoring players. Also the young lads hes been aquiring will be closer to first team action.

I have always believed you learn more in defeat than in Victory. Another European Cup would have been nice for sure. But it would have masked the flaws and dampend our fans and players desire for the premiership. At least tonight as my mum use to say we haven't "ruined our appetitte"

When they got their goal after being out played I just thought it wasn't our night. It's a gutter big time but we played so so well which makes it a bigger s***ter.

I'm also very proud of the team. Football, as with the world in general, is not always just. We deserved better, we deserved to win. But we lost. If I'm to be honest, I don't think Milan deserved to lose 2 years ago, but they did. Football's a funny old game etc etc...

We have the best manager in the world. His tactics made Milan look very ordinady. We have some fantastic young players. For people so young, I thought Agger and Mascherano were fantastic. They can, and will get better. I think Alonso had a very good game too. I can't remember many of his passes going amiss. I think the average age of our team today was something like 24.

We have fantastic fans, the best in the world.

We have the best manager in the world.

We have owners that will back our boss in the transfer market.

The future is bright. I'm proud of our team, and proud to be a fan.

Couldn't have asked for more tonight, we were immense and if we has scored first or equalised we would have won. The effort and tactics we spot on but it just didn't fall for us but very proud to be a Liverpool fan tonight

Proud of the team?

In the first half yes and then Alonson f*cks things with the most clumsy tackle you are ever likely to see. And then he wonders why he gets dropped.

Second half not 100% satisfied. Covered a lot of ground but achieved f*ck all. Gerrard should have scored. When Gerrard had a chance near the end and the ball broke loose to Alonso. What does he do. Kicks it in to touch. F*cking c*nt.

It was hard to sing You'll Never Walk Alone after the match, but I just belted it out with my mates. It almost felt more emotional when singing it in defeat.

I thought Milan were quite poor at times, partly down to us, partly down to just being poor. Some of the misplaced passes and ball control was shocking, a bit like us in Istanbul.

We could say that Alonso should have been more careful with his pass and the subsequent foul which Milan scored from, or that Stevie should have hit it with the left foot when through on goal. But at the end of the day, it was Milan's night. And if I'm honest, I had that strange feeling right before the match, something wasn't quite right.

But at the end of the night, the team tried. Pennant played his heart out and even went in for a couple of full blooded challenges. Mascherano was excellent in his defensive duties. Alonso was great in patches, Stevie and Dirk ran their socks off. Harry looked good when he came on. The team played to a good level, but at the end of the day if we had the better players we hopefully will acquire, we would have made Milan pay for some very amateurish defending.

We win some, we lose some. The better teams lost in both finals between Liverpool and Milan.

Ditto what zoob said: proud of the boys, proud to be a fan...

You're an embarrassment of a WUM.

The most disappointing thing is that we blew it more than Milan won it.

This is the quote of the night for me hense why it's pissing me off so much. We were very very good considering, and if nothing else it shows our new owners what's needed. Just a shame another romantic night wasn't on the cards but thats football. The boys played brilliantly against brilliant players and the cards didn't go our way this time.

s***ter but there it is...

It was a weak challenge by Alonso, Kaka took a bit of a dive and it paid off. Not to mention the goal was off Inzaghi's arm. Our boys played their hearts out, it was just their night. I understand the anger but for f*cks sake be proud of our team, we got one back and we showed our class. We're better than them and we showed that tonight, they just caught the breaks and got lucky in the end. You can bet that had we pulled it off again Milan wouldn't have been the same in defeat as we were, they're c*nts especially Gatusso (can't f*ckin stand him) and everyone knows that, the Milan players know they were outclassed tonight, just as we were outclassed two years ago (Save the 6 minutes and Penos). We caught the breaks then, they got them now. In the end though, We're Liverpool FC and no one, not milan, chelsea or the f*ckin mancs, can take that from us.

Next season we'll have a go at the League and the CL all it takes is one good summer in training and the transfer market, and we'll be up there.

I would like to say that I was happy with the perforamce from liverpool however I'm gonna leave the forum after this message for the night... there are loads of negative comments here and sure it's fair enough as we lost in a CL final however I think that most of them are just total s**** to be honest and I don't feel like I have a need to feel any more down than I already am.

The lads played well and with heart tonight, I could ask for no more.

Actually you put it better there so I'll quote that to highlight it, good post.

Im proud, everyone gave 100%, i thought we were slightly the better team... but im so gutted its untrue. I dont think you can criticise any player for effort, and i think saying Alonso was at fault for the free-kick is wrong (what was he meant to do? let Kaka have a shot from the edge of the pen area?)

the last 3 weeks have been great - wouldn't swap them for anything. As bad as losing is, at least we were there - history may not remember the losers, but we will. We lost and lost with pride. I only hope our lads are now swapping scarves, hugs & beers with the Milan fans & making everyone remember why WE"RE so special.

It's better to have loved & lost than never loved at all.

It was a clumsy tackle but he only had to make it because Carragher messed up his clearance.

Anyway, I was proud of the side tonight. We were the better side in the first half but the first goal was always going to be crucial and the luck was with them this time round.

I'd have kept Mascherano on myself, as he and Alonso were doing a good job against the much-vaunted Milan midfield.

Its easy to say in hindsight, but it might have been better to bring on Crouch earlier and switch Gerrard to RM, as Pennant had much less joy in the second half.

In the end, the game turned on the two clear-cut chances created in the second half - Inzaghi converted his, Gerrard didn't.
