Laptop help needed

The cat (little b@stard that it is) knocked a glass of water onto the top and side of my laptop (which was closed and switched off at the time). It wasn't much and I thought I'd got to it quick but now it won't turn on. If I plug the power lead in the charge light comes on but the power button has no effect. I'm guessing that it's done in but is it possible to retrieve stuff off the hard-drive. I had a load of holiday photos from a few years on there (I know I should have backed them up somewhere else but didn't) so I'd like to retrieve them. ALso my Itunes library is on there.

Any advice appreciated. Cheers
