amokop Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Have we decided or come to a consensus as to a YNWA meet up in Athens on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon?? Is it Omonia or Syngmata Square (sp?)
Guest Snorky Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 People flying on the day of the game are getting taken straight to the ground.

This isn't at you Kev, but if they think they're getting me to the ground, and keeping me there, at 12pm, they can f*ck right off. 10 hours before kick off is a rather large piss take isn't it? I'll be getting the Metro back into town if that's the case.

hels smicer Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Just wait until you hear about getting you back to the airport i dont want to know about this do i?
Guest Snorky Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 i dont want to know about this do i? Upon leaving the plane, you will be given a wristband, there are several coloured wristbands and they signify what time your flight is home. The fans going back to the airport will be kept within the stadium grounds and then when the coaches are ready, they will call what colour wristband is to go. People who have wristbands but do not get into the match, will have to make their own way back to the airport.

Look for me, I'll take care of you.
dorgie Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 The wristbands isn't a bad idea, if it's administered properly. Apparantly the idea is to ensure everybody isn't arriving at the airport at the same time. It says the wristbands are for daytrippers, so I'm not sure what happens for people travelling in to Athens on Monday/Tuesday but who are travelling back after the game.
Hightown Phil Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 There will be trains running all day taking you into Athens. Just wait until you hear about getting you back to the airport This is going to be a disaster isn't it? Heard rumours of this last week. I can see flights going without people here and you being in trouble because when you say "I missed my flight" the Greeks will say it was your companies fault, and vice versa. I might just book myself a flight back and be done with it.

The Travel Rep was full of compliments for the way the Greeks have organised this. However, it will only work if the fans let it. I can see problems ahead, and as usual we'll get the blame. matty Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Mind you, two years ago, we were all told to bring photocopies of our passports. Which nobody ever asked for.
Gunga Din Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 its reading threads like this that make me glad i'm travelling independently

Just spoke to our trip organiser and they said that all fans are getting dropped off at the ground regardless of what time they arrive on Wednesday but they can go back into town if they like. Apparently it's about four miles away and a piece of p*ss to get to.
Jeff guitar Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Cynical side of me thinks its another way to make money out of us. Might be held back and have to buy champions league vouchers to try and hide the fact your paying about 8 euros for a packet of crisp like in the departure marquee at Istanbul.
amokop Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 right... so was that Omonia or Syngmata then .... anyone know of a good place to hunt for tickets as well??? three out of five of our party are ticketless (like most ppl travelling I know) just wandering if anyone has any suggestions as to where to begin to search on tuesday afternoon/evening? outside the ground or in and around athens itself??? any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

A couple of lads in our party are in the same boat and they're going to the airport early doors to start looking. As well as fans selling them, the touts are bound to be out in force. At least if I was selling tickets, it's one place I'd definitely go to for punters.

Cheers redfella, we are basically going to start asking as soon as we get to John Lennon at 2am Tuesday morning...., probably hang around the stadium etc during the afternoon, then head to the two favoured squares...... just don't want the lads to get ripped off... a thousand euro's a ticket is a feckin joke, my mates would rather watch it by the pool in the hotel!!
