I'm currently in Beijing but will be out of here on Mon 20th May and on to either Datong or Taiyuan. While both cities are sizeable (around 4million inhabitants) I have absolutely no idea whether I'll be able to catch the match anywhere...having been in Istanbul in 2005 it'd break my spirit completely if I couldn't at least catch the match live on TV this time around...

So does anyone have any information on...

1. Possible venues in Datong or Taiyuan which may show the game?

2. Information on which networks will be carrying the game live in China (and whether they are standard channels or pay-to-view)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm loving my time in China so far (one week down, 7 to go) but REALLY want to catch this game.

Cheers,

Philby

Can anyone suggest the best spot to watch the final in Dublin?

Bit wary about going out to see the game because you usually can't see or hear it properly in a pub.

Any suggestions

I'd say you will be struggling to be honest with you

Mainly due to the time it will be on there and the fact that China is one of the less football mad countries in Asia

I also can't see many expats being in those cities. If you see one, grab him and ask him where he is watching the game!!

STA sports is the main sports channel but i can't see them having it

Some bars have FOX which will be showing it so look for a 'sports bar' of some description and persuade them to open late if they are not doing. Don't just presume they will be showing it. I once missed the start of a game in China in a so called sports bar so that the owners family could finish a film they were watching

best of look. If Andy can watch the final in an Al'Qae'da training camp, i'm sure you can find it on somewhere!!!

Any idea what The Tram on James Street is like?

sorry mate,no idea, its a bit out of the way, unless you live around james`s st :D

stay clear of sinnots, its a rugby pub with no life, why do all dubliners on forums recommend sinnots,im sure those that do recommend it have never set foot in it.

cant think of any where of the top of my head, ill ask around and get back to you.

Doors closed in Sinnotts in 2005 at 6.30...fantastic atmosphere there though it was packed to the rafters

no they didnt mate, and if it was packed, everyone must have left as soon as the match ended because when i went in it was empty.

its by no means a rugby pub, yes it shows rugby when its on, but shows football just as much if not more.

rugby pubs in town would be down under, sheehans, mcdaids etc...

and as for no life, it has plenty of life for big games, hence why it was closed doors at 6.30pm in 2005. it has a great atmosphere for the footy games

Completely disagree. One of the few places with a big screen in the centre of town. Good football following. Oh and having gone in just after the CL final was over in 2005 can confirm it was a) jammed and b) had a great atmosphere with a lot of singing going on.

The Barge or somewhere like that. Tell you the trut I can't think of anywhere I'd like to go and see it myself.

ps. Go to Charlie Chawke's place, the Goat. Niall Quinn's bound to be there.

I'd imagine D2 would be pretty crap. I'm not a big fan of watching matches in the pub as I get too wound up.

Have watched a few games in Sinnotts when we've only been on the mad tv stations and it's been good. Big screen and loads of other decent sized TV's.

the barge is always a good one, especially if its a nice evening, you can drink outside before or after

searsons again a good one

crowe's in ballsbridge i would prefer over paddy cullens, bigger screen, more space
