As a matter of interest, this seasons results against the top clubs - usually cited as a key failing, and mentioned again today by Rafa - does NOT seem to have been as significant this year. Whilst we only got 6 points in the match-ups, Chelsea only got 7 and ManU 8 - Arsenal were the big winners in these games, with 11 points. Didn't do them much good did it?

As often before, it's our record against inferior oppostion that let us down, not the other Top 4 clubs.

I think we have actually made a step back in terms of 'what is missing in order to win the league'. It might sound like a contradiction to say that we have overall made a step forward but I will explain this by saying that I think that due to the number of changes to our squad last summer, that we have needed settling in time etc. I think that it is often an excuse used when a player or players dont work out but overall I think that things have gone quite positively for liverpool. We might have lost the last few games in the league but to be honest we didn't really care did we? If we were pushed for it we'd have done a lot better. We're doing exceptionally well in the Champions league and our season has been a success regardless of the result in athens.

As for this summer and next season, well even though I think we have made a step forward overall, I don't think it was much of a step forward in terms of or pending assault on the premiership title. I think many of the players we were hoping to 'settle in' have not worked out. These players need to be replaced or given more time.. I'm not the man to make that choice so I won't go into it, I will say that we will have to do well in the transfer market this summer if we are to really push for the title. I do think that arsenal will do better next term and that utd will not do as well, it is chelsea that I am unsure about. I think we need to wait and see what happens there really as they could go on and win the league or they could end up 4th, depending on what happens over the summer...

either way, I'm quite happy as a liverpool supporter, overall like.

these are good times like.

A winning mentality in the league like we have in Europe. The worst strike force in 15 years (regarding finishers) and as always

choosing the games we're up for are the reasons we're miles off competing for the league yet again.

I hate the fact we can wallop Arsenal and then not turn up for Villa because there not regarded as a "big team"

The points are the same.

If we only dropped points against the "big teams" give or take the odd game at least you could see where we really stood and what we needed but for me it's attitude as much as signings. Eto'o would be a massivly exciting signing and would win us loads of games I'm sure but until Rafa can motivate the players each week like Furguson then I'm not sure.

poor start, away form and the fact we only took points from the other 'big 4' teams in 2 out of the 6 games are the main factors.

A couple of draws to augment the two wins is the kind of return you want. Yes it only adds two to our total but it takes 4 points from the other teams.

Under the previous regime, we had great records against the top sides - especially Man U .. didn't quite lead to number 19 though did it..
