Dr Fun standing on the barrier with his stupiud puppet. the dead c***

Pisser...anyone remember him...? Same bloke, ever game, middle of the Kop...just got his c**k out and started pissing...everyone used to dive out of the way and a channel would appear

Loads of blues on the kop on derby day all to the left (as you stood on it)

The Mancs trying to take it in the mid 80's and being kept in the corner near the old cafe surrounded by bizzies

the first time i was on the Kop was in 83/84 against Stoke. i fell when we scored and put a hole in the knee of my jeans. it was a scarey place, i remember the abuse a black lad playing for Stoke got too. a lot is said about reclaiming the Kop, some things about the Kop are better now than they ever were!!

i think so. the Kop in the 80's wasnt that pleasent a place though. when you sit there now and some people are complaining about the swearing and stuff, it always makes me laugh. they wouldnt have lasted a crack in the old Kop.

thats exactly it. imagine being in what is now blocks 104, 105 204, 205 etc and needing a piss when there is 20000 standing, and theyve all had half a dozen pints before the game. the smell you get when you walk past a pub on a siunday morningm the stale beer and ciggies smell, always reminds me of the old Kop

I'm gay. i jusy needed to say it. I hope you accept me anyway.

Only ever went on the Kop once - hated it!! Used to come every fortnight and sit in the Main Stand, one day I decided I'd try the Kop, hardly saw anything, was worried sick about having my pockets pi$$ed into and regretted giving up my seat in the Main stand.

Sad I know, but that was the Kop in the mid seventies

That's how I remember the standing Kop - the hanging pall of woodies smoke, the smell of wet/damp/sweaty overcoats, cold, tired, aching feet, seeing piss appear sliding down the concrete steps and wondering how far back it came from, placing bets on who could escape the boys pen, the constant movement, to and fro, side to side following the action and the mass of unison of extreme swearing when something didn't go right or the ref called one wrong (about every 5-6 seconds).

I loved it.

Sometimes, when there was no opposing fans to speak of, the Kop would divide itself into sides. The chant would go up, "The Right Side. The Right Side." The lefties would feel left out and start giving it, "The Left Side. The Left Side." Then they would gang up on the centreists and sing, "Middle, middle give us a song, middle, give us a song." Then "Ssssssshhhhhhhhhh..............AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!" if the middle didn't respond.

There was also a Pannini-type sticker book out in the mid 70s called the football handbook and the advert was on TV. They had the football chant of, "We all agree, Football handbook is magic." and the Kop latched on to that and sand it the way it was in the advert. Funny.

Then there was the horrific abuse, which even as a young lad, I felt was well out of order, of the opposition black players. Some gruesome comments from Kopites about the supposed odours of these players being particularly sickening. The one I always felt sorry for was Viv Anderson. As full back for some teams we truly hated, especially when he was at Forest, he was always going to come in for some fearsome abuse and of course he alwys got it.

Who remembers Bob Paisley complaining about swearing from the Kop in the Echo and saying he didn't like it? Following day we're home to someone or other and the Kop start singing "We're not allowed to swear, we're not allowed to swear, we're not allowed to swear." A few minutes later, the opposition get a goal and their fans start taking the piss. Paisley's comments are immediately forgotten as the fans start up, "You're gonna get your fecking heads kicked in."

there were a fwe songs sang that day with swear words replaced if I remember

what about the ridiculous "Celtic Rangers...>Celtic Rangers" nonsense

Or when John Wark (playing for Ipswich) got a smack in the b****x and went down...the whole Kop started singing his name in a high voice and also sang "Are you watching Mrs Wark"

Ha! Yeah, that was spontaneous and well funny. What about when we played Grimsby in the cup? We made up names for all our players based on a fishy theme. There was "Jimmy Plaice." "Kenny Dogfish." "Phil Seal." Terry McHaddock." "Sting-Ray Keneddy". What about the time Kenny messed up a pass and the entire Kop starts, "What a waste of money." Immediately follwed by "We're only f***ing messing." Dalglish laughed as he heard the words.

Anyone remember the night we beat Man City and Joe Corrigan got that fantastic reception? He said he'd never been cheered that much by his own fans. It was the night poor Tommy Caton scored an OG for us and we were singing, "We all agree, Tommy Caton's a Scouser." Then it was "We all agree, Corrigan's better than Shilton." "Corrigan for England." Joe Joe Joe Joe Corrigan."

what about when Beardsley signed for the s**** and he played a through ball which none of the everton strikers read........he stood there looking forlorn, hand on hips....and the Kop start singing "What a waste of talent"

The Kop was great. It could be terrifying on Derby day or against the filth if you got pinned against a crush barrier. The queues in the mid 80's could be a nitemare especially to get in The £1.70 for under 16s as most in there were about 30.

Fave chant for me was when Shilton came to the Kop to be greeted with "He's shot he's c**..all over Tina's bum" after being caught in his Jag playing away with Tina!!
