Benitez Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 (edited) My old PC died tonight. The power has gone. Dunno what it is, defo not the cable, I've tried a different one, and that doesn't work, and not the plug/socket either, tried it elswhere, and it doesn't work. The bugger will just not switch on. It's no big deal in the great scheme of things, as it's my old puter, I've had it for years, and it's worked really well till now. But the thing is, I didn't get round to clearing all the stuff I wanted from the hard drive, plus, I'd been using it to download bittorrent, cos I had uTorrent set up there and working perfectly after a few tweaks. My question is - is it worth me taking it somewhere to get fixed? I don't want to take it somwhere and get ripped off, or charged loads for getting what is essentially a back up PC working. Or is it easy enough for me to maybe get a barebones system and bung in the hard drive from this PC? I'm no techno-bod, so I'm a bit dubious of that option! But I do need to get stuff off that harddrive somehow. Edited May 11, 2007 by Benitez
